Took X6 in for Satellite Radio

I just took my X6 in the have my vehicle programmed after I installed satellite radio. Do you know that the dealer Classic BMW is charging me $210 and it is not fixed. The service advisor told me it was installed wrong. Know there is only one connection you can not install wrong, because it is just no way. I just can't believe the service am getting with this BMW this is the last one am going to buy. I will not be caught dead at a dealership, mines will be listed for sale within the next 24 hours. He even had the nerve to ask me if they can try it again for $210 dollars. the sad part about all this I bought the part from them, and they gave me the part number based of my VIN, WTF!!!!!!

When it comes to electronic devices for your car, you are best to have the dealer buy the parts and install. That way if there are any issues they will be resolved at the agreed price.

You bought a satellite radio receiver and installed yourself. Then you asked the dealer to program the car for $210 so the receiver would work. You only paid for the $210 for programming/activation. They followed the instructions for programming and that is all you paid for.

They basically are charging you for two hours labor to program the car and not troubleshoot a receiver that they did not install.

So I am not sure it is fair for the dealer to have spend hours troubleshooting something they did not install. Plus your receiver could be defective.

Too many variables.

When you buy a $60k+ vehicle, have the dealer do the work. You will save yourself a lot of heartache for a few extra hundred dollars.

In the end you get what you pay for.

And if it doesn't work for them the first time, they can only charge you for the original labor to put this system in and not for the diagnostic time they need to figure out what's wrong with it. The labor should also include the programming charge (I would assume).
