I really like them, has anyone installed them yet?

Lol cheesy yes, but I don't think they're necessarily garbage. Probably much brighter than stock.

I think someone should try them, better than paying like $2,600 for stock

Stock would be the headlights from the M models? These were early LED headlights, I doubt they were much better HIDs. Current generation of BMW LED headlights are on a whole another level.

The Chinese ones may be bright, but I'm sure they are made to the lowest quality standard, they will look cheesy and degrade in performance quickly.

This is probably a good option to refresh E70 headlights.

I'm not at all saying I want these, just to make myself clear lol.

But for someone who doesn't want to spend the outrageous price for stock replacements (and by stock I mean what my 2011 x5 came stock with) x5m and x6/x6ms have a completely different headlight than the standard x5. And the 2013 headlights are nice but those are about $2,600 and probably some coding would be needed, especially if your 2010 and below. Anyways I'll be willing to bet those would in fact be brighter than stock and probably a better option for some people, definitely not dot legal I'm sure though and quality is definitely up in the air…

Now as far as a headlight refresh would go, of course this would absolutely be the way to go, but that's also very expensive (cheapest I've seen is a guy on the bmw diesel FB group who will do it for like $800 I think) and some people can't wait a week or two for someone to retrofit the stock headlight with better halos, new lens cover, and clear lens swap the stock projector. Some people just need a cheaper swap and be done with it solution.

Me personally would want to go with ossdesigns for a retrofit but that's also about +2k… and I wouldn't go with the upgraded style led halo because I think the c type DRLs look much better. I just hate anything chrome, looks tacky to me.

I think the X5M/X6M came with LEDs that can be swapped onto regular E70, but I doubt they are better than HIDs, many early LED headlights were less crips than the HID.

Modern headlights are most certainly expensive, for $800 its not that expensive to get brand covers and clear lense swaps, my car could certainly benefit from it, but the whole procedure to remove and reinstall the headlights is just too much work.

As far as all these halos, while the modern LED/Laser headlights are very bright, the halos look stupid. I like the classic BMW round angel eye design.

This is incorrect. The e70 X5M shares the same headlights as the X6 and X6M. The shape of the light is slightly different and will not fit the opening in the fender of a standard X5. The fenders are different on the X5M.

It's possible they could. It's the reflector type though right? Led is above pointing down into the reflector. Leds are definitely high in lumens but I believe the more reliable measurement of light output is lux.

Removing is definitely a process though… I believe both front fender flares need to come off, front fender liner, and front bumper. All are easy to remove once you've done it once but also a bunch of screws to deal with plus you need more rivets for the fender flares. Not difficult but definitely a daunting task if never done before…

The only round halos I like are the 2013 style headlights which have a very uniform halo, my 2011 halos, even with led upgrades aren't the most uniform… much better than my e90 lci though!

Oss designs have a really nice c type drl I think though, in the link: https://www.ossdesigns.com/x-series-f15-f16-program, they show an e70 x5 headlight in the stage one program. It looks eh… They used the lowest grade c drl though so I'd definitely opt for the better one, plus the eyebrow I would definitely want to run the whole length instead of being cut off like they did. We all have different taste though!

Thank you, I didn't realize that. So just to clarify, a regular X6 and X6M came with LED, and so did the X5M, but regular X5 only came with HIDs and halogen?

Did they have a different headlight just for 2013, which was the last model year for the E70? Mine is a 2012, came stock with LED angel eyes, is that what you refer to as halos?

I have a 2013 E70 I swapped the HID bulbs for these LED error free bulbs and they are super bright and reliable. But I think these headlights might be brighter because they run 4 projectors with LED bulbs vs two projectors that are stock.

Yes and I believe so. Might be late 2012s that got them as well. I think I saw some 2012s with them in my search for my x5d. My 2011 has the halogen type, but I've swap led bulbs in because yellow is yucky

I say you should try them out. A lot of people cringe about aliexpress but these are the same as the ebay headlights available. I'd be interested to see if they work with our afs headlights. And the quality is up in the air. They look alright in pics.

I bought mine in December 2012, not sure what the build date is. I lost my 335 and my GS430 to hurricane Sandy in November, so I went to my dealer and they had this sweet 5.0 on the lot, so I bought it. It came with the LED angel eyes and HID headlights. My 335 was a 2010 with halogen angel eyes but HID headlight.

I wonder if there is a way to put another bulb into the unused projector, if it even has a lense. Double the output.

Not exactly. 2010-2012 X5M came with HIDs but lens/housing is shared with X6 non-M. 2013 X5M came with LEDs. Same housing shape as X5M/X6 non-LED and X6M with LED.

2008-2012 X5 non-M all share same lens/housing. They're not compatible with e70 M models (any year) nor e71 X6 M and non-M

So not sure about yours with the led halos but mine with the halogen, the inner "dumby projector" is where the light is projected into for the halos

On yours it may be a cornering light though. You can check by putting headlights in auto and turning the wheel

This is the regular HID that came on almost all X5Ms

This is the optional LEDs you could get in 2013
They can be retrofitted to earlier models, mine is a 2012

X5M has a completely different shaped light than the non-M cars, but is the same as X6 and X6M.
