That was really rude for no reason.. I am pretty lost myself and looking up a lot of the terminology as this is not my profession. My occupation or hobbies aren't cars, however, I have been a BMW and have been a BMW owner for 12 years now and im only 33yrs. Therefore, when I saw the pipe on my drivers side of my 2012 X6 exhausting only on that one side , I decided to look it up. Don't judge others because were all obviously all here to learn... Im sure you just learned a thing or two... check!!

Yes, I realized the same thing , at first I keep ignoring it ... yesterday I saw it again ... I figured I would Google it ... thanks for that info because I was getting worried that something may be wrong. Though it wasn't something I saw all the time ...

I have the same set-up on both sides of the exhaust system on my 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT. They are spring-loaded instead of vacuum-actuated, but the basic function is the same. Those who've removed them or wired them open have noticed drone at the lower end of highway speeds. No difference in perceived power, and some say it sounds better.
I'll be trying this "wire up the valve" trick on our X6 when we get back down to Florida this fall. I've always hated how the truck sounds when accelerating, maybe this will fix that. I'd gladly lose 1 or 2 mpg for a better sounding exhaust, even if that is the case... |

Well, I wired it open with picture-frame wire. Easy enough fix. And for the record, the valve is on the passenger side, not the "left side" as was initially stated.
Not sure I like to sound. Definitely louder, but almost more like a ricer. Only revved it up in the driveway, will report back my opinion after a few days of tooling around the Cape...

Still wired open and the sound is better than stock. This mod's a keeper!
