X6 MUST-Have Accessories?

I'm ordering an X6 50i and wondering what are the must-have accessories.
I'm looking for practical accessories not cosmetic.

Any idea will be highly appreciated..

The trunk area of X6 has these 4 D clamp connectors, two on each side, that slide back and forth along the sides of the trunk. I think it is useful to have a cargo net with 4 hooks (one on each corner) to tie on to the sliding clamps for securing loose cargo such as groceries. BMW makes one that I have been meaning to order.

I have a 2012 X6 50i. Pretty much loaded with every option. i would say the best, and most practical, options are HUD, comfort access and enhanced premium sound. HUD is a definite 'gotta have'. The most useless option; ventilated seats. I also have the leather dashboard, while not a practical option, is definitely something that enhances and makes the x6 special.

I was going to get the HUD, but if you wear polarized sunglasses, you cannot see the HUD

I have Oakley sunglasses with fancy polarized lenses and while the HUD is greatly attenuated, it's still visible even in bright sunlight. You'll need to turn the brightness to max. Sometimes if a turn is coming up on and I want to read the navi instructions more clearly, I just tilt my head 10 degrees CC and the hud is very clear again.

For those that haven't purchased yet, I wouldn't turn down a HUD because of polarized glasses, especially if you drive at night. It's one of the nicest features I like.

1. Get a video blackbox (like you see in those russian videos). I made my own before they existed (back in 2007), and now have 2 Korean ones, one that points to the front, the other that points to the back. They have GPS, 3-axis accelerometers, HD video, audio, etc.

When I valet, I tell them "I'm legally required to tell you there are 3 cameras recording you". They never find the 3rd

Great for accidents (been rear ended) and arguments with the significant other..."you said this, play back the tape!!!"

2. Pepper spray velcro-ed to my seat so I can reach down and pull it out for self-defense

3. Fake Gag Donut. Haven't had the chance to give it out to a cop yet. Yes I really have this.

You said practical...

Multi-contoure seats...very comfortable compared to sport seats.

I have the venilated seats and love them , when we visit friends in Scottsdale , AZ in the summer and the temp is 106 we really appreciate venilated seats. So I guess it depends on where you hang out.

Depending on how aggressive your LEOs are I would recommend some counter measures. Here in California the state and local governments are all broke, they are very aggressive in trying to generate revenue. I get shot doing 30 in a 35.

There are many to choose from and everyone has a favorite. I have Escort 9500ci installed for radar (center grill) and I replaced the shifters that came with it with ones from Laser International.

If it is like mine I suggest an auxiliary oil tank. You can get the built-in model or the one you tow behind with the trailer hitch.

I like the BMW all-weather floot mats. They are very functional and useful in my part of the country.

I think roof rails are practical if you HAVE to put something on the roof - but I've never seen an X6 with them!

we are talking accessories, not options?

Although thetrunk mat is not favorite for all, i love it as it keeps the trunk clean, the other side of it (carpeted) has a nice X6 logo which looks nice when u open the trunk. Other than that I have the video adapter which is a great thing if u have an iphone 4 or 4s (really practical).

Absolutely the comfort access. So easy to open/lock doors without fumbling for keys.

+1. No more cars w/o a HUD for me

While I still think the point of this thread was about accessories (not options) I'll say I love the HUD and I wear polarized sunglasses; sometimes I actually just take them off so I can see it, especially if I have a navigation route on. On overcast or cloudy days and at night the sunglasses aren't even an issue. You don't wear sunglasses all the time, but not having the HUD is permanent. 100% agree it's a must-have option. OP, were you asking options, accessories, or both? I thought you ordered your car already...

Where did you get your X6 Logo trunk mat? Do they have an M version?

Through the dealer, its an official accessory, i believe there are at least two types of trunk mats, this one has two sides and it folds in the trunk. The carpeted side has the X6 logo in the bottom left corner. No M version for this.

Thanks a lot to all the nice advices.

Does anyone recommend specific maintenance materials? (For cleaning leather, external body of the car, etc.)

I am not sure what is or is not available in the Middle East, but I can offer my experience so far.

I have been washing and cleaning my car myself, using the "two bucket" wash techinque with the Grit Guard, basically a plastic bucket insert designed to keep dirt from swishing to the top of the soapy water and coming back onto your wash mitts causing scratches to the clear coat as you wipe down the car. I am very happy with my microfiber wash mitts, foam gun, and related accessories such as quick release garden hose connectors and shutoff valves so I can change out my spray nozzle for the foam gun without running to shut off the water hose.

The most awesome product I can recommend after using a whole bottle of it is the Sonax wheel cleaner. This stuff bonds with the iron brake dust and really gets it off your wheels, keeping wheels, calipers, and rotors looking brand new. The bottle lasted me 3 wheel cleans. I used it on both my X6M and my wife's GL550 (which hasn't had a wash in a while and the wheels were black from brake dust) and wheels look brand new after 5 minutes (per wheel) using this stuff. I use microfiber towels to wipe the dirt off after I use the Sonax spray.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have tried a leather cleaner and conditioner but my car is so new and while the leather cleaner I am using seems to work, it's too early to recommend it as I haven't tried others yet. I can happily say it did not cause any damage, which is a good start!

All this coming from a guy who never did any of this on his own before but I can't trust my baby to anyone and she's a keeper. Plus I have had too many times paying for a detail on the GL550 only to be cursing that this or that didn't get cleaned properly... So I do it myself now and it helps me to know every scratch, paint chip from rocks, and anything else that may show up on my car

Speaking of chips and scratches, I am about to order the BMW touch up paint sticks so I can take care of dings and scratches and paint chips myself as well. Will let you know how that goes. I've ordered the Langka scratch/ding repair kit and just need the touch up paint now to try it, as I already have 2 chips on my paint after 2200 miles on the X6M.

I know you weren't expecting an essay but hopefully some of this is useful. I didn't know about any of it until very recently. I've also got a simple ShopVac vacuum on wheels for vacuuming the floormats and upholstery in the car, which seems to work great so far!

With Amazon.com, I can order all products! But depending on size and weight; the shipping can be costly..
