That is sweet! I want the same color wheel combo. More pics please!

Do you have a shot from the rear. Want to see how those 285 look from the back.

How did BMW get the extra 40 hp with the M performance package? Engine tuning only? Or did they make other hardware changes?

I'm considering replacing a small SUV and a 5 series with an X5 and I need to decide between the X5M and the 50i + M performance. I have an M3 also and I can appreciate the magic of the M division, and there's really nothing I want to change on that car, it's just perfect. I have a feeling that if I don't get the X5M I'll regret it down the road and spend the money I would have saved on mods anyway.

Congrats on the new X. I see it has the M sport pkg but are you certain it has the M performance pkg as well? Reason I ask is that I never saw those wheels delivered with the M performance pkg. That pkg comes with different wheels. (20 inch 336's to be exact)

Those are the 19" M-sport wheels. The M performance package is the power upgrade and has nothing to do with wheels. The 336 wheels are not available on the M-sport...they come on the Sport package with 20" upgrade.

The M Performance Package (ZMX) has nothing to do with the wheels on the X5. On the X6, it includes the 336s, since the X6 doesn't have an M Sport Package (ZMP).

On the X5, you have to order the M Sport Package to order the M Performance Package, so you get whatever wheels come with ZMP, either the 19" wheels in the picture or you pay $950 to upgrade to the 20" 333Ms (on the 50i, the 35i comes standard with the 333Ms).

The M Performance Package only adds a different exhaust, hp/torque bump and the stainless pedals on the X5.

On the X6, the M Performance Package is a combo of the M Sport and M Performance packages on the X5. It includes the stuff in the X5's as well as adding the anthracite headliner, 336 wheels, M steering wheel, Sport seats and shadowline trim.

Dinan has a CHIP, or just a software download?

The x5 with M performance package ($1600) allows you to have the extra 2 folding seats....whereas the x5m cannot. Just fyi.

Still not clear whether the m performance package is just software and the black chrome exhausts or where the extra HP comes from. I guess the $1600 is still cheaper than almost 3k dinan charges, but remember that to get the m perf package, you also have to get the m sport package at $4700.

does bmw offer a retro fit of the ZMX ? I mean it must only be a ECU flash , no ?

I would prefer to spend $1600 in the tune than the Dinan $3k.

The X5 with the M-sport package has 440 hp and hasn't been tested in mags but probably hits 60 in about 4.5 seconds.

And the X5 50i with Dinan stage 1 or 2 has around 500 hp and probably gets to 60 in around 4.2-4.3. I haven't tested but I've had both this and the X5M and the off-the-line performance is very close.

Minor correction on the terminology. The X5 5.0i comes stock with the 400hp engine but you can get BOTH the M Sport (cosmetic) package AND the M Performance package. The M Performance package does bring the performance up to 440hp. I can vouch for this build combo because that's what I ordered and it's my dd. I love it!

Although I love the cosmetics of the ///M Model and would have loved to have the added suspension performance package that was a $4500-ish option on the 5.0i, the 0.8 second 0-60 wasn't worth the added $$$ for my wants. I'm thrilled with the options I have but one day if I win the lottery, I just might buy the ///M.
