Tailgate warning light

Hi members,,
My tailgate warning light indicator is on. though I have opened and closed the tailgate several times. I presume some sensor somewhere it not acting right. maybe this is also the reason why my tailgate does not lift automatically. When i have it fully open and press the close button, i hear a ding inside but nothing happens.

Any ideas anyone?

I occasionally have the same issue. I have to open the bottom part of the tailgate and slam (rather aggressively) it shut and then the top hatch with close. The ding you are hearing, when you push the button, is the system detecting the bottom part of the gate is not fully closed.

Just tried that and no luck. It pops open but does not lift. fuses are good.
