A new X5d is coming my way!!!

This is our second BMW this year. I took possession of my F10 550ix 2 weeks ago.

My wife was due for a change from her MDX so we looked at the X5.

They have repackaged the options in Canada. It will be loaded as an executive edition with the "Comfort and Technology" package, along with 3rd row seats. It will also have the AG sport package which includes:
- 20 inch staggered wheels
- Sport suspension
- Anthracite roof liner
- High gloss shadowline
- Sport seats with front cushion extension
- Wider fenders
I left a deposit tonight, and will get into an April production slot. Should be here in late April or early May.

Congrats, what color combo did you go with? We started our X5 purchase process several months back, and it will be delivered in June after I return from deployment. We started with Space Grey and Black, to Bronze and Oyster, to White and Tobacco...no more changes now, we just got our chassis number the other day.

I wanted Alpine White, and my wife wanted Platinum grey, so we compromised and went with Platinum grey.

Ha! I'm right there with you...except the other way around. I wanted the space grey, she wanted the white, so we compromised and went with the white But I will say this, it looks great and I will be happy with it I'm sure. We were back and forth over interior as well. We have a young child, and I saw how the tan got tore up in my parents Lexus with my younger siblings. We were going to go oyster, but dodged that nightmare and went with the tobacco.

Tobacco will be sweet. Oyster is stunning, but doesn't make sense if any child will ever be entering the vehicle. Congrats. Have you received it yet? We'll have to compare pics when they get here.

Stay safe.

Yeah as soon as I saw the tobacco in person I knew it was the best choice for having kids. We wanted to avoid black since we anticipate living in warmer climates. The oyster is by far the best looking combo out there. The contrast of the light leather and the black looks really good. I wish the tobacco had the two tone going on with the black inserts. I think later down the road I may replace the brown carpet with black to add some contrast.

We just got the chassis number, so it should be getting to us soon. I will definitely take some pics and share them with you and the other guys on here.

Blessings!

I just got my production number. Apparently it goes into production at some point next week. I'll call mid week and see where it's at.

Sweet, yeah I got my VIN last week as well and guessing it is being built now too. I'm stoked, just got to finish up this deployment!

Home for me is represented in my avatar and signature pic-Florida! Don't know when I will be back just yet...sooner rather than later I hope.

Nice car. What don't you like about it? I'm worried I'll like it more than my 550. Cool to see another Québécois.

If you like driving slow heavy trucks with squick and rattles, problems with climate and battery and sit high then maybe it's your cup. I'm more into the sport sedans/coupes. Too bad I realized it after taking delivery. Now can't convince myself trading it in and loosing big time.

Sorry to hear that. I really hope my experience is better than yours. Mind you, I can climb into my 550 whenever I want to have some fun.
I'm looking forward to highway cruising with the X5 diesel.

It's very comfy ride on the freeway, though it's not as economical as the car at highway speeds due to the high ground clearance and weigh. The best I could manage at 120 km/ph is 8-8.5 l/100km. Slowing to a 100 would of course reduce the consumption. Those numbers are driving without AC with 2 people in the truck. City I'm getting 10.5-11 l/100km with AC or without and 12-15 l/100km in winter. I could easily get around 7.5-8 l/100km in my tuned 335 on the freeway and around 12-13 in the city. The diesel engine is lacking horsepower (not torque) big time and painfully slow in it's stock form, transmission is lazy too, brakes are too weak for the car size. Plus the fact that it's a "chick-mobil" 90% of all X5s in Montreal are driven by females. I'm very happy that at least my wife and kids loves it.

This is a car for my wife, so I'm glad to hear that yours likes it.

I called BMW Canada this morning, and they tell me its in assembly. I assume that it is in assembly from the moment it starts production to the moment it ends production. I know it started last week (mid week). I assume it will be finished in the coming days.

we have a 2.5 yr-old boy and we opted for the oyster with light poplar wood trim. It looks amazing, but what gets the dirtiest is actually the black backing on the the back of the passenger seat (not the oyster). this is b/c my son repeatedly kicks the crap out of the seat and rubs his muddy shoes all over it. It is fairly easy to clean, however.

Plus, I think he knows it annoys me, so he tries to do it as much as possible...

Ahhhhh yes! The joy of having a "massage" chair thanks to the little ones treating the back of your seat like a soccer practice...

That is why shoes are coming off until you are old enough to learn not to kick the back of the seat!
