How your Eisenmann Race to sound like an F car.
A little while back I installed the Eisenmann Race. As you guys who have them already know, they are a bit on the loud side. Not so much that they're loud, but the sound at low RPM's is not entirely pleasant. In M+S mode, at high revs, it sounds like NASCAR and that's where this set up shines and what it was made for.
I needed to clean up the sound a bit in noob mode. I never had a problem with drone but I just don't care for the sound this motor makes in normal driving conditions. I ordered two Vibrant 3" "Ultra Quiet" resonators (12"long) and put them in place where the two exhaust pipes run parallel out to the back. I thought this was a good spot as they fit nice and snug with out touching and there are no angles and curves to trap the gases and create turbulence. Also, this is the exact spot that ALL AMG's have their factory resonators and they've got the sound thing DOWN. The result is a car that sounds like a mix between a bone stock S65, and a high revving 360 (Nothing sounds like a 458 ). The sound is cleaned up, almost stock in the cabin but windows rolled down it sounds very pleasing. In M+S it's so refined that you'd never expect an X5M to make the sound. I conclude a super free flowing Race exhaust with a resonator made to mute rasp and cough really cleans up the sound and you get a sound that turns heads not because it's ear deafening but because it sounds good, which is what I've been trying to achieve since I bought his money pit. Vid to come! |
