Brand new BMW delivery
When you get a new car from your dealer , how many miles should there be in odo meter?
Please let me know since my X6 will arrive at my dealer on 8/19/08 but I'm scheduled to pick up 8/22/08. I want to know if my dealer is abusing it during those period. thanks. |

The dealer has better things to do than drive your car. Usually the problem is getting them to drive it.

My sales guy and the Sales Manager put the Sold sign on the dash, locked it and told everyone it was not to be touched (this was more to keep customers out of it). It was taken out of the showroom when I picked it up. Actually my sales guy has funny sense of humor. The showroom has a blacony so he let me come and wander over to my car, then did like the commercial and chirped the alarm and popped the rear hatch. I highly doubt most BMW dealers are going to take the chance of having something happen to your car. Most dealers are very protective of their customers as they represent recurring revenue. |

Dont worry, nothing is going to happend to your car if they drive it fot several miles...there is always a transport from factory to truck, parking, shipping and several other movements that we cant imagine, and finally you got 3-5 miles at your odometer...
Enjoy your ride!!! |

It should be 15,000 miles, not 18,000 and the onboard computer will continuously monitor everything and will let you know when it needs to go in for service. For example, if you drive more aggressively the computer will adjust it down to around 10-13,000 miles.

Thanks guys. BTW, I just got to drive the 50i for the first time. Very nice so far. Too bad I have an ear infection; my hearing is a bit low so I did not get to appreciate the exhaust note.
The 214 20" wheels have a slightly stiff ride. I think anything larger than a 20" might not be very comfortable. I'm sticking to the break in instruction (don't exceed 4,500 rpm). Not until 1,200 miles will I push it all the way. |
