As for the inspection of the driveshaft bolts, I have zero faith in that service. fatigue is not often seen in metal, let alone a drit/grime covered part. It'll fail it when it fails. No inspection will find it reliably 100% of the time. It may be tight one day, and get play within a week after an "inspection."
Which is what I basically stated in post 39 in that if what was being inspected failed, then that is why BMW is covering it.

It freaks me out that so many of us have had the dealers inspect our drive shafts under the recall, yet, based on the OP's experience, there's potential for our driveshafts to fail anyway...
According to NHTSA it's this:

BMW X5 Driveshaft TSBs

TSB Number: SIB-26-01-14 NHTSA Number: 10055942 TSB Date: June 1, 2014 Date Added to File: August 6, 2014
Failing Component:
Power Train: Driveline Driveshaft
Summary:
BMW: on some vehicles, the front driveshaft's universal joints may wear out prematurely. Also included model x6 produced between april 2010 to january 2011. Updated 9/2/14.

I thought the bolt recall was for the VANOS.

The bolt recall was for Vanos, I got that replaced due to my car going into reduced power.

The other posters were spot on, it's the driveshaft bolts that go bad, and when they go, well they go. You can inspect 1 day, then the next it goes.

Makes you wonder why they are just not replacing the bolts. It could have been done under the N63 campaign.

Talking about the driveshaft U Joint? You would think when they replace they would be better? Or upgraded? That is an excellent question, how is the new fix going to be better?

As times goes on, less and less will be on the road. The damage they cause when they fail though, that makes no sense in not fixing it rather than inspections.

Got the car back today, left BMW went about 10 miles, and it drove like a dream. Then transmission started going crazy, and reduced engine power. Messed with some, re started, etc. Nothing, back on the tow truck...

EDIT: BMW is stating ignition coil went bad.
