PSI M4 Visits CCW for Extreme Wheel/Tire Fitment Testing!

Knowing that a custom forged wheel company is local to us, it would be nearly criminal not to bring our new BMW M4 over and try on a series of different wheels and tires to find out the maximum we could run - especially in the rear. At CCW (Complete Custom Wheels) here in Central Florida, our goal was to find out how far we could push the sizes and fitments without any rubbing or having to roll the fenders.

CCW is a one-stop shop when it comes to custom forged wheels - nearly every part of the design and manufacturing process is done under their roof. This approach, along with their direct sales to the public, allows for almost unlimited fitment options and very low lead time. We took the liberty of touring their production facility and grabbed a few photos to share with everyone here.

After several combinations were installed, including a few pairs of wheels off the shelf, we were able to fit a 19" x 11.5" 325/30/19 in the rear! We also compressed the rear to simulate fitment with coilovers. This helps to produce the best sizes for each customer's unique preference and use of the car (street/track).

Enjoy the photos!

Let the fitting begin!

Not a big fan of the wheels, but the shop looks awesome!

All the setups pictured are for size testing only. We are not running any of the wheels pictured here.

Good stuff guys!

What sizes did you come out with? These new cars can fit an incredible amount of wheel and tire right from the factory.

Im in the oilfield business and tour factories all the time. Most of them have lathe's that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, usually coming from Japan. I am so impressed there are companies in the US that invest that kind of money into quality automotive products.

I cant say how impressed I am with the shop.

And bravo to you guys for buying the SO color. While I still havent seen it in person, your pictures were enough to get me to change my order from SB to SO. Keep them coming.

Those last pics are of a 19" x 11.5" 325/30/19. We tested this crazy sizing just to find out the maximum we could run in the rear.

It will be somewhere close to that once CCW finalizes our set for the M4.

Once they are on I'll post the sizing CCW decided on.

CCW is a serious manufacturer of 100% custom wheels, which is why we took the time for this visit. If they didn't have a size we needed on hand for our fitment testing - they MADE IT on the spot.

Thank you! - New photos are always in the works!

i knew 11.5 in the rear wouldn't be an issue. A 325 is nice. I plan on running a 305 in the rear.

Are they making 1911 frames for themselves or for someone else?

Those are some fat tires on the back...I like it. The style wasn't bad either, though more american than euro.

Can you share why they had CnC'd some handgun frames? lol

Very cool. CCW makes some of my favorite wheels.

Was any testing done to determine the max fitment for FRONT wheels & tires as well?

Yes, absolutely. That will be released with our CCW set on the M4.

I do know that my rear Volk TE37 SL (19 x 10.5 et22) did fit fine in the front.

Great news! Keeping the stock adaptive dampers (and adding in camber plates), what sort of max tire size do you think will be possible up front? 285?

This is great stuff Sean. You guys are doing an awesome job with this version of the car. This means we'll have no problem getting 305 AD08R on my car. This is good news for the driving skill challenged 6MT guys like me. Meat on the tire with some sidewall equals much less wheel spin and less skill required to get the car off the line!

You are my hero... I plan on calling/emailing Dan in the spring and I might not have such a hard time getting fitment guidance now! Awesome!

I'm staying 18''. I have had a couple sets of LM-20s... I just love them.

EDIT: I am excited to see your setup... I'd like to run 305s out back, but I wasn't sure if it was feasible. Definitely seems like it is.

Yeah, I kinda like it ... looks pretty racy ... I'm liking that wheel style better than the TE37s on the car, kinda looks like the VRG2 ... getting closer

Yes, even 295 depending on tire manufacturer.
