X5M - Anyone knows what this pipe is for?

Anyone knows what this pipe is for? part of vent? X5M

Question - is this supposed to be popped out (showing yellow plastic)?
this is driver-side right under the engine cover.

It is a quick-disconnect fitting and normal to show the yellow retainer
