Have always had my door panels removed for tinting.

Had loose door panel on my x5 and a damaged panel on my e46. Not huge but noticeable.

It looks like it is normal practice in Australia for them to remove panels when window tinting. Would prefer that they don't as if not put back properly it is annoying as hell.

I too got Suntek Carbon 35 and watched him do it - no removing any panels whatsoever. Flawless job.

I would not tint the moonroof though.

I was intrigued enough to do a search. I always thought the rubbers in the door would be an impediment. This youtube video shows how to do it without removing panels. I didn't watch it all so forgive me if he takes anything off by the end! The car looks like a Rangie.

It is good to know for next time.

If you pop the top of the door panel off of it's retainer clips you gain access to the inner weatherstrip which just pulls out toward the top by grabbing one end. Tint the window, reinstall the weather stripping, and pop the door panel top retainer clips back in.

I realized last night (..during the inaugural car wash) that my '13 X5 M-Sport windows already had tinted glass on all of the windows (...apparently factory tint is 30% on the X5's that come with factory tint).

Dealer tinted my X1, and they took the panels off, no squeaks breakage or baby seals died. Tint is excellent with no dodgy cut lines bubbles etc.

This is the same tint we went with on our x5d. Huper Optik, or something like that.

They didn't remove panels and it came out fantastic.
