Me too, I was about 150th in the line that started at 4:30 a.m. I arrived there at 9:30. I got on the list to try for the $10,000 tax credit which would make the car only $25,000. It will be a great car for car pool lanes. I'll always have a sporty toy car though, maybe a 911 next time.

This. I stood in line for 2 1/2 hours and I was about the 150th person. I mean seriously, if I get the tax credit in CA it would be $10,000 dollars. That would make the base model about $25,000. That is a lot of car for $25,000., think of it as a commuter for car pool lanes. It will supposedly have a 10 year unlimited mileage drive train warranty! Drive the thing for 300,000 miles!

I have seen pictures of the trunk and the glass
I have seen pictures of the trunk and the glass
sticks over the metal hinge area . This makes the trunk awkwardly unusable for almost anything. I hope it has a heads up display because I see no instrument cluster in front of the driver. I hope they do a wagon or more utilitarian variation on this. As things stand now the S is more utilitarian than the 3 or the x. x gull wings mean no racks for long board and kayaks or any long object. http://jalopnik.com/this-is-the-tesl...ail-1768467573 Last edited by ctuna; 04-02-2016 at 12:18 PM.. |

Are the people in this thread that reserved more than one planning to buy more than one?

My brother's MKz has a full glass roof and it also opens and slides back over the rear glass to open the roof up for about what is half way back. Pretty neat. Seems to me for an electric, the solar load on the air conditioning system is going to be an energy consumer that will drop the overall range.
It is obvious the car remains unfinished in some respects and the unveiling was a fund-me event to collect some needed cash for the company. The devils (and production costs) are in the details. IIRC the price for the X was supposed to be less than the S, about $65K I think, and the X turned out far more expensive.

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

I reserved 1 as well, most likely will get one with upgraded battery pack and air-suspension (which if is the same/similar setup as in Model S) should drive amazingly. I agree not the best looking sedan, but if you consider technology and price I'm willing to bypass the looks. Additionally Motortrend mentioned that it looks much better in person, let's hope so.

If you haven't pre-ordered as of yet, you're pretty much guaranteed to have your delivery done after 2020.

Electricity is also not free. It may be cheaper than gas, but it is definitely not free. Kind of expensive where I live, actually, at ~$.22/kw/hr delivered. If I had a regular commute I would be interesting in an electric commuter car. But not a $35K sedan, I would want a $100/mo leased eSmart.
