New Front Control Arms at 35k miles???

Noticed a grinding sound/feel when turning the wheel yesterday so I stopped over to the dealer. They said I will need to replace both front control arms/bushings.

It's under warranty so I'm not too concerned, but is this normal?

What did you notice that made you take it in for this service?

Front started making noise at slow speed. Whenever I turn the wheel it would make a clunking noise. Took it to the dealer and made tech sit in the car with me while we drove so that he could hear the noise as well. 1st dealership I brought it to just retorqued all the bolts. No fix so I brought it to another and told them what needed to be fix after researching on here.

Had the same issue with mine... you can thank the sorry excuse for roads we have in Michigan. Thats my only educated guess as to what caused it so soon on mine because the part is designed to last 60k miles of hard abuse

Maybe I'm reading into this a bit and trying to find a problem with mine but is it noises while turning or noises over rough bumps that you guys heard??? I hear a little on mine over rough bumps but can't tell if it's just because it lowered on springs and or the combination of the fridged weather and the rock hard runflats. Or maybe mine is beginning to sound slightly clunky in the front too.

Both. If there's really a problem then it will get more noticeable with time.

Mine is making this horrid screeching noise like an old beat up mattress and it turns out my front lower control arms need to be replaced.
Noise happens when going over bumps or any inertia from vehicle can cause it. Also, when I turn my steering wheel it generates the same noise. It's quite embarrassing driving such a nice ride making this noise.

Just got mine back from the dealership. Good thing for the warranty. Here's a list of what they replaced:
Left front output shaft
Both sway bar end links
Both lower control arms
CV boot

Afterwards SES light came on at the dealership.
Found injectors were bad so....
All injectors replaced
All spark plugs replaced
Crankcase vent valves replaced

It seems like this is a ongoing problems with the x5m.
I've complained before about the injectors but they turned a blind eye because the check engine light wasn't on. Also with the battery as well. They won't do it unless you guys keep bringing up the issues.

I'm having my links replaced next week. 2 weeks ago, all injectors and plugs were replaced, as well as the crankcase hoses. 44K on the clock, and since I plan on keeping it, might as well shell out for the Platinum Warranty before hitting 50K.
