Android unit installation question

Hi - I bought one of the Aliexpress android auto / CarPlay units and have a question about an 8-pin OEM connector that connects to the back of the OEM screen.

Anyone know what this 8-pin connector (with only four actual wires) supports?

There is not an equivalent connection for mating on the new screen. I’ve connected the new unit and everything seems to work fine without the 8-pin OEM connector but would like to know what it is for. Thanks.

You don't need it for the new screen most likely because of the piggyback connector that you installed behind the CIC which has separate wires for the new screen.

Thanks argento. Began looking through your posts-lots of good stuff in there.

Question: are you aware of any settings in the android unit that will make it switch to the OEM menus when various OEM buttons are used, eg, display the heated seat settings when the button is pressed, vent positions when its button is pressed, etc?

The android unit automatically switches to the OEM rear camera display when I put the car into reverse. I’d like it to automatically switch to the other OEM displays/menus when I use the other buttons on the dash.

No, I haven’t found such a setting on my Android 10 yet.

FWIW, I noticed yesterday while in the Android monitor, I put it in reverse and happen to also hit heated seats. The display switches to the heated seat menu temporarily and back to reverse camera. For some reason I thought it was only the reverse camera that activated. So there must be one thing internally that, if accessed, could get you what you seek.

IIRC I coded the oem menu to display the heated seat menu when the button was pressed…?
