Question 2012 X5 N55 - What is this connector on the A/C harness and where should it go?

Hello. Working on a new-to-me 2012 X5 (prod date 5/2011) with the N55 that has a variety of issues due to neglect and encountered an unexpected, unplugged connector while replacing the heater control valve assembly today. I didn't pull this plug, but it may have already been hanging or it got yanked out as I was removing things. Doesn't appear to attach to anything I removed that I can tell and I can't find its home.

It tees off of the wiring going to the A/C compressor, but I don't have any FSM literature to figure out what it is and where it goes. I can see it in images on the parts vendors sites, but they're not descriptive or in enough detail. Also couldn't find an A/C compressor-related YouTube video of good enough quality where they reference it and it isn't spoken of in any of the heater control valve videos I have looked at.

Can someone direct me to where it goes or show me with a picture so I can finish putting things back together and enjoy some A/C on both sides of the vehicle tonight?

Angry

I am having zero success finding anything that this would plug into. The attached photo is what Alldata says, which identifies it but doesn't elaborate as to where it goes.

One shop tech very familiar with N54 and N55s suggested that it may go nowhere due to BMW using "universal" harnesses in some platforms/applications where some plugs just don't get used. My X5 isn't throwing any temp or coolant codes, so it seems to be receiving all the inputs it requires.

Anyone else run into that? Maybe I'm searching for something that doesn't exist.

I'll try to look for you this evening when the wife gets back with the 2011.

if your all data wiring diagram is right, it'll be that coolant pressure sensor (actually a coolant TEMP sensor) because the compressor has a different looking plug.

I would guess it connects to this part:

Part #6 in the image.

Yes, I'm referring to the connector at the top left of the diagram I posted. I'll edit the attachment for clarification. The harness running to the A/C compressor takes a rather visible route and is connected/undisturbed, so there's no mistaken identity here. And yes, that is exactly the sensor type I've been hunting for under the intake with my mirror-on-a-stick, but the packaging is horrible.

based on the parts diagram, looks like this is on the cylinder head so you may not be able to reach it w/o removing the intake or getting really good with some very long pliers.

The part you circled in the diagram is a 3 wire part and the one in the photos is only 2 wires. How did you determine the connector is what's in the diagram?

It's the only other connector teeing off the harness running to the A/C compressor. I'll see if I can find any part of the wiring that has the colors exposed, but this is looking like the wrong diagram for my platform.

Unknown 2 prong connector off AC Compressor line

Hello,

did you ever find out the answer for what that unknown 2 prong connector is for? i ran into the same situation on my 2011 BMW X5 E70 N55. I don't recall ever disconnecting anything from it when i took off the intake manifold. Now I'm not sure and don't want to miss anything.

Wow- what’re the odds I find this thread. I did some major work on my 2012 due to belt suck issue and can’t find a place for this connector.
Maybe it’s for vehicles that have active steering? Mine does not and I thought I was crazy not finding where this plugs in.

Any updates???
