295/40/20 On Fronts ? 2010 E70
Has anyone run a 295/40/20 on the fronts ?
Just picked up a 2010 X5d and buying a couple of wheel and tire sets for it. I have a deal on some Pirelli Ice & Snow 295/40/20s that I'd run for a winter set up but wondering if I can run them on the 20" x 10" rims up front ? Rears will take them fine on the 20" x 11" but unsure on clearance up front ? Anyone ? |

Holly molly that's really wide? I don't think you want to go too wide for winter tires from what I heard.

I'd run the 275/40/20 on the fronts, but the outer diameter of the 275/40/20 tire is 728mm and the 295/40/20 is 744mm so I'm worried about running that much of an OD difference even though 16mm/0.6" is not that much. So, I'm only really worried about the clearance for the 295/40/20 on the fronts so I can run a 295/40/20 square set up for winter. I may just end up test fitting them and will post my feedback. If they don't clear, I'll put the 275/40/20 on the front and see how it works out with the OD differential. If anyone has experience mounting a 295/40/20 on the front, I'd still like to hear any feedback - thanks |

295/40/20 in front, will it fit E70 X5?

Have you had the possibility to test fit them or found any other solution? Anybody, has someone other experience in this matter? |

Photo below is a 275/45-20 tire. This size barely fits. Also rubs the louvered vent and will break a couple of slats.

So, if the 275/40-20 has the correct diameter for the front , what kind of solutions you have set in the rear if there's 11x20 vs the 10x20 in front? The original 315/35-20 is a bit tough decision as winter tyre... And there shouldn't be difference in diameter of the tyres with automatic transmission like the X5 has, right? Correct. You want to maintain the same tire diameter to avoid any transfer case and transmission problems.
