I 2nd nothern2020! I was looking/driving a 2011 Monte Carlo Blue X5M yesterday that the local dealer has had for a while and with only 70 miles on it there was a good sized chip in the rear passenger flare. I had mentioned this to the dealer as a "must do" for me to purchase a car from them...they were a little put-off until I showed them the damage that was already there at 70 miles!
By the way, I am passing on that 2011 Monte Carlo/Bamboo one in favor of a white/black 2012, so PM me if you are looking for a below MSRP deal on a 2011.

Nice color combo! The truck looks really great.
I have a question for you (since I see the P-cars in your garage)..... Did you shop the Cayenne, too? I'm looking now at the X5 and the Cayenne. What I want is something that's a great handler on the street yet also fairly good off road. Engine performance isn't mandatory (won't be getting a Turbo nor a X5M) as I have two P-cars, too (and an AMG.) I just want a good all around SUV for a daily driver and exploring the back country, etc.. I like the styling of both the X5 and the Cayenne. I'd debadge both, but the X5 is readily recognizable as a BMW (I want to be more anonymous esp when out in the boonies.) Main thing is agility and yet being comfortable at the same time. And RELIABILITY. I don't really like RFTs and I actually prefer a n/a motor. Price differences aren't that big an issue (I plan to keep it for a long time.) Tough decision for me, and so any input (if you did indeed cross shop the Cayenne) is much appreciated. TIA. |

The X5M is as smooth and comfortable as it is fast. The handling is superb and it is an amazing machine overall. It is also very practical and I use mine as a DD. Yesterday I was driving in 2nd gear and went from 40mph to 60 mph in less than 1.5 seconds! All while being very comfortable. The gas mileage isn't half bad. Mine has 7,500 miles on it, I got it in January 2011, and it's averaging 14.7 mpg.

Yeah, I was going to buy a Cayenne Turbo but the local Porsche dealer wasn't willing to come off the sticker price. I came across a couple of reviews of the X5M and contacted the USAA buyers service who put me in touch with a dealer who'd sell me a car for $500 over invoice. In comparing both cars it seemed to me that although the Cayenne had marginally better performance, I'd probably never know the difference. I like the looks of the Cayenne a little bit better than the BMW, but not enough to justify spending $30-40k more. What sold me on the BMW was the performance, maintenance program, well thought out drivers aid systems (iDrive, Nav, BMW apps, etc) and the price.
As you noted, we own several Porsches but I also had a 1974 E9 Alpina Coupe I bought new and owned for 30 years. I only sold it in 2004 to make room for the Speedster and I still miss it. The Porsche dealer seemed to take my business for granted and ticked me off while the BMW dealer gave me a great price and did a good job to get the deal done. I hope the X5M turns out to be a good choice, but time will tell. Hope this helps. |

http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/bmw...ified-gps.html btw, The Cayenne Turbo is an overall better performer than the X5M. But the X5M is a better deal monetarily (as Nick Daffern points out in this thread.) I just returned from my dealer and they won't budge much on the Porsche (they're hot sellers), but the discounting with the X5 is a lot better (and there is more inventory.) |

Impressive color combo. First Cinnamon I've seen.
Opted for the soft close doors on a whim, but notice and like them daily. I have 26K on mine and am so glad I bought it. |

the 2nd photo is off centered and all of your doors opened...just my observation.
you should look into the vent' seats, they are 40x the comfort. p.s. 3m it quick before you repaint it in a few months
