Running Boards

Anybody here ever purchase a set if running boards from say EBay and install them yourself. I caught a line on some brand new ones for $250.00. They can't be too hard to install? Probably 3 brackets into prefab holes would be my guess?

I took my set off to be smoothed and painted. It was not as easy as 3 brackets. However it was not a difficult project. I should take no more than an hour or 2 to install..

Post up pics of your painted rbs

Install requires you to half remove your flares and change the internal brackets. All in all it will take about an hr a side. Are the eBay ones generic and incl shipping? Checkout pacific BMW as well

I purchased a set from local dealer United BMW of Roswell and installed them last Sunday for $406.65. Everything needed is included (except the 4 replacement rivets needed once old ones are remove from the fender trim -2 per side)
The first side took me 1.5 hours (figuring things out and stopping for a couple of cold beers). Second side only took me 45 mins. Make sure you get the installation PDF from this blog. It make installation a piece of cake.
I will NOT start the conversation on the true usefulness of the running boards, but I am super happy with THE LOOK of (my wife's) X5.

The following is a link to a posting with the BMW OEM installation manual in .pdf format.

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=478489

This is exactly what I used and it was not difficult at all.
