Does your 40d have a dipstick like the 35d's? I have to remove the intake snout to get to mine.

Level increase, it could be a couple of things, my guess would be coolant or diesel. So check the coolant level and check for oil slam in the coolant bottle and oilfill cap.

Not saying this is happening to you, but there have been cases where diesel was getting into the oil either via a failed injector or leaking past the fuel pump. I'd check you oil for evidence of excessive diesel.

I did a short check, I think the gearbox cooler is not integrated with the radiator.

So, If you oil level did come up, there must be someting that leaks in the oil.
There is a way that you can check your oil by a labotory.

You may not get any trouble codes for these issues. Bottom line is something is getting in your oil and if it's not milky then my bet is that it's diesel.

Diesel in the oil is in my opinion killing for the bearings of the engine.

I ready don’t know, an engine could use some oil, but your Engine can not make oil and fill up the level.

How does the car start after a night stand, does it run smooth, or difficult with smoke out of the exhaust?

What you could do is drain the oil en check how the oil looks, put the oil in an clear jerrycan and let is stay for a day or to. If there is other than oil in the can you will see that.

Just because INPA+ (no such thing so maybe you mean ISTA+?) doesn't show anything doesn't mean one of the two isn't happening.

atfter a night or two start perfectly, it runs very smooth, no strange rumors but loose power over 40milje per hour. no smoke in the exhaust

But using bimmerlink apk in my smartphone i saw for the DPF the soot levele is 87% , but it says that the regeneration proccess is done 235km before and no need to regenerate
Strange also this

today i will to to change the engine oil to see what will happen

thanks

Experiencing a sudden message like "engine oil level too high" on your BMW E70 4.0d xDrive LCI could be a result of overfilling the engine oil. This can lead to increased pressure within the engine, affecting performance. Here are some steps you can take:

1. **Check Oil Level Manually:**
Verify the oil level manually using the dipstick. If it indeed indicates an overfilled level, you may need to drain some oil.

2. **Drain Excess Oil:**
If you're comfortable doing it yourself, carefully drain the excess oil. If not, seek professional assistance.

3. **Inspect for Contamination:**
Check for any signs of contamination in the oil, such as coolant or fuel, as this could be contributing to the issue.

4. **Address Underlying Issues:**
If you continue to experience power loss after correcting the oil level, there might be other underlying issues. It's advisable to have a professional mechanic inspect your vehicle.

5. **Reset Warning Light:**
After addressing the oil level, you may need to reset the warning light. This can often be done through the car's menu or with a diagnostic tool.

If you're not comfortable addressing these issues yourself, it's strongly recommended to consult with a professional mechanic or contact BMW's service for assistance.

thanks man

there was a little problem with my first injector, when the mecanic pulled out was all black,
afte cleaning that, i changed the oil, reset the light, and now seem OK

the cause of that problem i think was that dirty injector, maybe it mixed some diesel with oil
