Anyone upgrade to aluminum transmission pan?

I just tried installing one on my 09 x5d e70 and turns out its not notched enough for clearance for the solenoid wiring harness. Torquing it down heard a crunch new knew that couldn't be good, pulled it off and compared. Anyone else experience that? Looking for a replacement harness, no part number hard to find if anyone has one kicking around. Thanks

What part number did you buy? I thought ucsbwsr used the aluminum pan from the X5m transmission w/ the serviceable oil filter on his. Don't recall if he mentioned any modifications were needed or not. I think I remember seeing it on his build thread but I'm too lazy to go searching for it.

The uro one on rockauto said it would fit. Looks identical except not enough clearance.

Whoa, whoa, whoa... so you mean you can swap in the aluminum X5M pan & filter as a straight bolt on upgrade????

I have zero experience with it other than reading ucsbwsr's build thread. He is normally pretty good about stating what modifications need to be made if any, and he didn't say anything about modifying the pan. So I would assume it's a straight bolt on.

Well I am intrigued! I like the idea of the larger heat-sink on it, no other real need for it beyond that. Thinking, thinking, thinking...

Larger heat sink is what I'd be looking for from this, especially with the towing I do. Having a replaceable filter is a bonus as well. I'll most likely be doing this mod when I need to replace my tranny fluid in another 10k miles or so.

I don't tow, but drive in a hot climate. Heat dissipation is a good thing! This on the tranny and a remote oil cooler would make the X's life a better one!
