2010 X5M Hitch --Lack thereof

I have a 2010 X5M that needs a tow hitch installed.

I bought it in March. They said by end of April... but here we are at the end of May...and still yet no hitch is available.

Specs for the X5M e71 shows it can tow 6000lbs, but has no dealer or aftermarket installable hitch yet.

Other forums talk about how the rear bumper trim plates will be avail by June, but at this pace, unless I do something radical, my X5M is a useless truck because I need to be able to pull simple trailers.

Has anyone installed a hitch yet on a 2010 X5M?

When I researched the X5M before purchasing, I made this inquiry to multiple dealers.
Typically got the same answer - no.
The aftermarket hitch is available on the X5, but I think it's a $600 option, and another $500 to install it (you have to cut the bumper!). If they ever do develop a hitch for the X5M, I hate to think what it will cost.

My dealer got back to me (Yes, on a SUNDAY) and said that they had one of their Master Technicians figure it out and installed one late last week. This coming week, they are going to work on making sure it's fully integrated into the Bimmer operating system. They too were tired of waiting for BMW to get their sh*t together on this one.

I almost went out and bought a F150 just to get back to work. lol ;- )

The dealership I work for just installed one on an X6M. That means it should work on the X5M right? It was an OEM part from BMW.

Same as on the X6 50i. Just have to remove a cover on the bumper trim.

Of course they will also install one on the assembly line - unless you live in North America. It is a factory option in the UK and EU.

Apologies for resurrecting this old post, but does anyone have the part numbers for the hitch and hitch trim for the x5m?

I'm thinking about upgrading my x5d to the x5m, but need the hitch installed. I called my local USA dealer, and he says there isn't a part available.

Judging from those photos posted above, that doesn't sound correct.

Can someone clarify. Thanks !
