5w30 Synthetic Oil Brand Mixing Question

I own an X5M, but don't know much about engines so forgive the elementary level question. Is there any harm if I top off my truck with 5w-30 by Mobil vs the 5w-30 that the dealer put in?

if you wanted close to the BMW 5w-30 I would have used 0-40 for Mobil. If you are topping off I don't see any issues but if you topping off often then I would use the right oil.

M1 0W40 meets BMW specs. If you just need to add some top off using M1 5W30 and have a change scheduled in just a couple of miles then I don't think you will have problems.
