Value for X5M with Pure Turbos

Hey all, need help. Very depressing long story short my X5M was totalled, hit and run. After investing $20,000 I finally had it running perfect. Progressive insurance is trying to give me $13,000. Build sheet is below. After a month of going back and forth they agreed to hire a 3rd party appraiser. Has anyone sold there X5M with Pure Turbos? I assume it would have similar upgrades.
07/23/2021 Purchase Price $22,728.00
08/03/2021 Dinan Software $286.00
10/01/2022 Spark Plugs $96.00
06/01/2022 Coil Packs $160.00
02/17/2022 Air Filter $120.00
10/06/2022 O2 Sensors $230.00
02/13/2022 Brakes $168.17

10/12/2022 Crankcasehose $63.55
10/12/2022 Intake Hose $56.13
10/11/2022 Carbon Steering wheel $87.98
09/25/2021 Manifold Ducts $201.39
07/30/2021 Wheels $1,693.88
08/01/2021 Luggage Rack $105.89
11/29/2021 FRM3 Module Repair $54.99
07/30/2021 Front Tires $612.27
07/30/2021 Rear Tires $526.00
08/01/2021 Quad Exhaust $440.94
11/15/2021 Pure Turbos replacement $9,477.00
11/22/21 Dinan Aluminum Pedals $166.17
11/09/2021 Lower Control Arms $151.79
Conservative Total $37,690.49
Invested in BMW not including labor except for the turbos
There were several other repairs, tow bills, ceraminc coating, window tint.
I estimated i have $40,000 into this car.

*** By the way, paramedics said they couldnt believe my daughter walked away, she was in passenger seat. We hit a semi truck sideways after being clipped by a car from behind. This car is very well built and suprisingly safe.

At best you can argue for the aftermarket components, but you're never gonna see a penny for any of the run rate wear items (coils, tires, etc). Your mileage will also matter significantly.

As someone who is going through a claim with progressive right now as well, they are the most abrasive, aggressive shit heads of a carrier I've ever dealt with and will not only lowball you, but SIGNIFICANTLY low ball you. I was forced to lawyer up.

Yea its crazy the run-around, this happened Jan 9. Ive got an attorney and weve hired a 3rd party appraiser. I just want something reasonable from them. The X5 was amazing, after turbos I drove around my dads new vette and friends new porsche 911. It was a lot of work getting it to where it was and I feel I could have sold it for $22-$25k privately. All you had to do was see it and drive it..... I couldnt go anywhere without someone asking questions about it. My neighbors are happy, they said it would vibrate pictures off the wall from the cold starts. I miss it.

Your 3rd party appraiser will be your savior against the insurance companies, and that applies to all industries. Had the same issue with a roof repair, had to use a 3rd party to fight the insurer that would only cover the affected shingles and not the entire roof.

As for value, you can't factor in aftermarket mods. But private sales within a 1000mile area are reasonable facts to use. Your insurer is probably using auction pricing for your payout.

first, most insurance companies have a limit of 5k in additional upgrades, a lot of people in the jeep community found this out the hard way, after losing or getting a jeep stolen ith 50k in parts, they got 10k for the jeep..

This is the loop hole that insurance companies use, and the same that will be used for your upgrades..

1. I would sell your pure turbos, are these stage 2? i might be interested..
2. if you have a good lawyer (i own a law firm), you can get just as nasty back at the insurance and make it very painful for them to deal with you, which they will then try to pay to make you go away.
3. the world ahs become a stailmate to screw the consumer unless you own or have an attorney in your pocket, they do it cause....they just can. The odds of someone having resources, money or counsel to deploy, are slim compared to the number of people they can say "NO" to.
4. just look at the homeowners in Florida about the insurance companies saying they wont cover their home being blown away cause of the flooding and the other insurance carrier saying it was the wind that did it and not the flooding, unless you lawyer up and have an inside connection, its never worth the fight unless you own or have family as counsel to waste battling with the insurance companies..

Thats my 0.02 but i will say, if anyone ever hits my car or cars with me in it, and they expect to pay me blue book, I'll own the insurance company before i am finished with them, especially since i have every receipt for every item on the car (and i will expect the other side, to replace the car for car. ha)..

its sad what the world has become, i agree, but the game has changed and everyone should have a good chess piece in their pocket for a rainy day.
