Questions about the X5 4.8 Reliability

I Just purchased a 2007 x5 from carmax for $26k. It's a 2007 bmw x5 4.8i with 60k miles and has the sports package, premium package, adaptive control, navigation, rear view camera, heated seats, technology package, sport seats, 3rd rear seat, panoramic roof, 20" wheels, and possibly more that i might not have remembered.

It blue booked for $30,500 private party so i figured it had to be a good deal and since carmax has a 5 day return window I'm not loosing much by locking it down. It's currently being shipped which gives me more time to figure this out. They offered a warrant of 125k miles 72 months for $3400. I bought my 2009 335 convertible from them and got the same warranty but it was $2600 same 125k 7 year coverage. With my 335i it was a no brainer because of all the issue's it has and I've already used it within a year lol.

I'm trying to find out if you guys think its needed for the x5. I figured if i ever have issues that $3400 will cover a lot. With the carmax warranty its a $300 deductible as well. How long do the engines last? Any major issues? What about the transmissions, or suspension? Is the 2007 model more susceptible to things? I'm also probably not going to keep this car past 100k miles since i normally want to get into a different car every 2-4 years.

What would you guys suggest since most of you guys have lots more experience with the x5 4.8 engines. Also out of curiosity what is your average mpg?

Get the best warranty you can buy. PERIOD. X5 with that many options, you will need it especially with the electronics. Make sure the GPS is covered as well.
