500 hp is not enough for this vehicle to meet current M expectations. The current M6 for instance is at a ratio of 3,900 lb/500 hp. I hope to see close to 600 hp and loads of torque to make this pig legit.

M is on the track. Hybrid in the snow. You can tell by the exhaust tips.

well, thats good for a SUV (SAV) i guess, i mean you really won't be racing around streets with that car. it seems reasonable for that kind of a car.

BMW have confirmed this will be the most powerful M car ever. So expect more power than the M5.

exhaust pipes are kinda small on the first pic...
500horses is just not enough for this car.....my predictions are 580-630hp and close to 900Nm if not even 1000Nm , it may be 5.0l V10 twin turbo also...not 4.4l

Just an observation...

Toyota will lose money this year for the first time since 1941.

They claim they sell Hybrids at a loss to learn and improve the technology. Without the discounts none would sell. They are cancelling the construction of the new Prius plant in the U.S. Their revenues will drop from $170billion to $55 billion in 2009.

In lieu of these facts, there is no way GM/Ford will survive without bankruptcy.

The BMW Hybrids are a day late and a dollar short. I see the Hybrids gone as fast as they came and more focus on smaller diesel engines.

More confirmation from BMW
- Yes, it'll be called X6 M and there will be an X5 M also
- V8 TT makes it the "most poweful BMW series car ever"
- 19" brake discs front with 6 piston calipers
- xDrive more rear biased than the current X6 models
- MDM mode will be available
- Best handling in class and lowest fuel consumption in class

Rumours:
*540-550hp and 700-750nm of torque.
*Fast as M3 E46 around N-ring
*Premiere: Geneva Autoshow

I hope those rumours are false....because of the cars weight , M5 is much more lighter than X6 and has almost the same power...also it needs more torque than 750Nm....amg's have much more and for a good reason too

I'm not certain the goal of X6M is to outperform current e60 M5, and I think it won't.

X6M is aimed to outperform ML 63 AMG (510hp 630nm) and cayenne turbo s (550hp 750nm) therefore I'm not sure it will require lot more than 550hp and 750nm to achieve its job properly.

By the way has any of you any idea of a release date for this beast ?

How will it outperform the ML and Cayenne, when it only has 4 seats and less cargo room?

Then you will have to choose X5M.

I meant straight line and around the ring performance.
