uber help needed asap!
Sigh,
Well we had quite a day here in houston, a deluge of rain. i got caught in it and stalled my x6 50 in some water. rather surprised considering a civic and corolla puttered right by me. I feel rather sick. The tow trk driver who knew a freakish amount about bmw's. it took him 30 sec to unlock tranny and as the batt was dead get to the manual unlock for parking brake in back. He said that the ecu if it even smells a little water will shut down the car. I can only hope so. any helpful insights or thoughts on this would be appreciated. I'm so sick, I've got a S5 thats is due to be replaced with an M3 this month. If I have tanked this X6 I really don't know if I want the worry of messing up high end cars anymore. maybe just go by a jeep. Again, all sorts of cars went right by me. jeez. thank you. |

According to manual, x6 can drive in 17" deep H2O. Which is a little above the center of the wheel (w/ margin for splashing h2O)depending on ur wheel diameter & tire size. Depending on whether all the engine bay's various compartment boxes are all closed up tight. ur service technician can check for corrosion as signs of moisture.

This is scary. I live in Houston too (Clear Lake area) and high ground clearance was one of the main selling points for me...or should I say high water clearance...please let us know the outcome of this!

not too deep perhaps around 21' max. But I had a toyota corolla pass me no problems as I sat stalled out. Dealer says engine toast, hydrolocked. DONT EVEN THINK THAT THIS THING CAN DO BETTER THAN A CAR.
Dealer says new engine needed. ugh. i'll post me on tuesday guys. |

it IS a car , it is NOT an suv. Having said that there are some videos on youtube of some folks putting it to it's limits off road. Last edited by dmlgc; 07-04-2010 at 11:30 PM.. |
