Who are you guys buying warranty from?
I'm a couple days away from pulling the trigger on a 2011 X5M. The car is low miles but has no warranty.
Who do you guys buy from? I know I can call any dealership and get one but I'm hoping someone here has a trusted sales person who knows his stuff. Also, what are the best warranty options out there and why? Thanks!!! |

I've heard good things about a few dealers across the nation, I had to google extended warranties from a number of forums to get a list, I then called each of them and emailed them. Only maybe 2 of 10 actually got back to me or took me seriously. Though the best price I received was the first contact (i.e. no negotiating) was Jeff Steel at Passport BMW on the east coast. He only needed the VIN from me. I seem to recall there was a dealer in the valley or Van Nuys, or something that was highly regarded. You'll have to do a little digging on that, since there are so many dealers in the greater LA area. All I recommend is that you need one for that model car, and shop around as prices are negotiable from a dealer aspect. |

I had warranty from NAC (national auto care) on one of my AMG Mercedes in the past. They were OK to deal with, I put in two claims with them, about $8,600 total. I paid about $1500 out of pocket for the difference in prices of items they wouldn't cover. I had an alternator go out and Mercedes would only install a new factory alternator. NAC would only pay for a reman part. So I had to pay for the difference in cost between new OEM part and Re-manufactured part cost.
The policy I had was an exclusionary policy, which means it covered everything, except for excluded parts. Most other warranty policies only cover listed items, anything not listed is not covered. You should contact NAC and get a quote. I think they may only sell policies through dealers, but it's worth a shot. My warranty wasn't cheap when I bought it, I paid about $4800 for a 4 year warranty. But it paid for itself after the first visit to the dealer. I then sold the car about a year later and received a $2800 refund for the unused portion of the policy Last edited by xpl0sive; 10-12-2015 at 09:25 PM.. |

I have them on my X5M and like them very much. Just FYI they do not cover the air suspension when you have worn out rear air springs at 50k miles! BMW CPO doesn't either! "@&*#^

NAC (purchased through my credit union) just covered $9000 of repairs less $127... not bad at all in my book, and I have had my X5M less than 3 months!

I got mine from the BMW dealer for $2100.00 CDN for extended coverage to 7 years 160000 KMS and they tell me it is equal to the regular factory warranty. I guess I won't know how good it is till I need it.

Can I get Route 66 warranty if I'm an Illinois resident? Who sells it in Illinois? I called my credit union (BCU) and they only have Member's Choice which has mixed reviews.

bought it from bmw dealer (the mechanic) I must have gotten completely ripped off if you guys are paying below 3k.
mine was 9400 for zero deductible, 6 additional years and 60k additional miles covers everything including electronics. I have the same for my 2010 m3 and it was 5k. As for the x5m, warranty ran out in dec and since then i've made 11k claims from Jan ~ July and had zero problems and didn't cost anything. Dealer takes care of all paper work and i simply just drop it off / pick it up .
