Message for BMW

Dealer replaced high pressure pump (pt.#13-51-7-592-881) &
ASA Bolt (Whatever this is ? 11-13-7-529-690). Then took them 3 tries to update programming, so it stayed over lastnight.
Lost some addresses in the Navigation mode of idrive.
Wondering how safe is new idrive w/builtin harddrive during a program update.??

Dealer did the above work on Jan 7th Now on Jan 15th I get the same message on idrive?
Why can't ur superior technology diagnose problems once & for all?
I had to go to my dealer at least 3x before I read on this forum that Car & Diver had the wrong battery installed in their x6 longtermer. I had to tell them about this before they realize the same issue!
Now I have to go back a 2nd time for the same error message!
Just what kind of diagnosis can BMW make with all that superior equipment??
Are they just a bunch of boneheads capable of only one dimensional thinking?
How does the n54 manage to win the International Engine of the Year twice with all of these Engine Malfuctions i'm reading about on these forums??

When my car had to be reporgrammed it stayed overnight, that is common. Any time they work on anything electrical the address book seems to get clobbered, it should be just another sync with your phone ( pain in the ass as it takes a while, dependiing on number on entries). I don't know why BMW can have a backup to a flash stick since they have the port.

Sorry your having problems but high performance cars are finicky and the X6 is new model so most local dealers don't have much experience with them. Hopefully some 35i owners can chime in on what issues are common for that model, that way next time you go to dealer yoiu can have them all looked at.

Sometimes I wonder too.

Guys, the more computers we have onboard, the more chance all that code may have bugs...I'm not happy about that, but does your laptop/desktop work perfectly? Probably not. I know when they do the update it does take overnight since it is a direct hookup to Germany for the latest code.

Is it a direct hookup to Germany, or done on an internet backbone. If so, I cannot imagine that the data cannot be sent almost instantaneously over the internet. I have no knowledge about this process. But this overnight thing does not make intuitive sense. I cannot imagine that the latest code would not take seconds or minutes to download to a local machine.

they are not installing software on a PC they are flash prom which takes a bit since you want that double checked. You wouldn't want your steering to suddenly take a left turn by itself. writing data to flash is very quick if you don't do any parity checking but for things that control a 5200 lb missile you will take the extra time to insure integrity.
