Drag Racing

Already love drag racing this tank but I want to get better.
For power put it into sport mode and click into first. Also have M mode on. MDM or t/c off.
Launch control comes on at 2500rpm. Will disengage if you hold it too long.
For the suspension/EDC (i think thats what it is) I think should be off. With it on the suspension is stiffer and wont transfer weight as well.

Now discuss, any other ideas to improve 60fts and track times let me know.

Also here is one of my first of many kills to come.

Havent tried with the T/C off yet ill do that next... tune is going in sometime next week I am hoping. I'm thinking pipes as a christmas present to myself. Definitely trying for 11s on tune alone.

wierd that ur launch comtrol works with TC on? that is putting tons of unwanted stress on ur axle and other components i would imagine...def turn it off when launching. high 11's on tune alone is acheivable but only under optimum conditions and all stars aligned i think. mid 11's with all mods and non rft's thats more reasonable. what tune are u going with? and what pipes? gl and keep us posted

Going with the Eurocharged tune... Talked with Jerry and hes had several customers hit 12.1s and 12.0s with a tune alone. If I go on a cold night and realy work on my launch I think it could happen. Also Eurocharged is great because they will reflash the truck to any future mod I do.

This is my first BMW let alone M series so I am still getting use to all the terms and buttons... a little different than AMGs. When I go into M mode MDM does pop up on the dash, is that traction control or something else? I believe that automatically turns T/C off but Im not too sure.

As for the pipes I would love to get the Akrapovic downpipes and exhaust but Im not sure I can justify spending 10k on an exhaust system. From what I've seen and read they are the best but I'm sure there are others out there that are a close second for a fraction of the price. I did see someone just went with the Meghan exhaust hot sure the gains that they claim but I would look into it. Any that you know of that I should look into?

I was messing with it last night and it does when you go into M mode. When mdm comes up t/c is off.

Went back again... beat up on some M3s. Had a guy in a 2012 Mustang GT 5.0 line up with me. He recommended me to line up with the truck behind us but I said I needed a challenge LOL. He kept bragging about how fast the car was blah blah blah, i kept my mouth shut and would mention it should be a good race. Regardless it wasnt a close race at all, beat him by multiple cars.
Great night... I love this truck.
The set up I mentioned above has been working great for me. Consistently getting low 1.9 60fts on an unprepped track. Ran 8.3s @ 85 all night. They actually made me put a helmet on said I was breaking out and running too fast and I just laughed at the guy. (only an 8th mile track)

Yeah, can easily walk away from a stock 5.0 GT. I've got a '11 but getting a SC so I should be able to keep up if not pass. Just the solid rear axel is the Mustangs downfall. But it's my track car so having fun with it.

Ive been noticing in videos that people have been using launch control with different settings as you mentioned above Biff. Ive had it in MDM mode while in M mode. I wonder if having t/c off instead would result in better launches? Think Im heading to the 1/4 mile tonight and Ill be testing the difference. Guess Im still not to sure on the difference between MDM and trac off.

Finally made it to the 1/4mile, got 4 runs in 3 were decent.
Got a pass as soon as I got there. Truck must have been heat soaked from the 45minute drive. Shifts were bogging in sport and just didnt have a good pass came in with a 13.0@107. Needless to say I was very dissappointed.
Let the truck cool down for a bit and gave it another shot. Got a 12.8@108 my second pass. Decided to hot lap it and came back with my quickest run of the night 12.7@109. Only got one more pass in and I was a bit rushed so it wasnt my best but was 12.8@109. It was about 70-75 degrees and a 2000DA. On a cool night I think I coulld squeeze a 12.4@111 stock pretty sure the truck has it in it. Been trying several different launches now and I'm still sitting at a 1.9 60ft. Alot of guys seem to get 1.8s wondering if im still in the wrong mode or something is up.

Here's the slip. left lane.

My best launches have been in "Power" mode, DSC Off (not MDM), EDC on, and use launch control. Without activating LC, the truck is just a little sluggish getting off the line and the 1-2 shift seems slower. I was drag racing over the weekend, but no time slips to prove my claims. I do need to try with EDC off, but I'm not having any traction issues where weight transfer may help.

BTW, it seems there may be some confusion. MDM is not DSC Off. MDM allows the stability control to be more lenient, but still leaves it active in order to aid the driver if he pushes too far in a corner. DSC off fully defeats the stability control and is only recommended for special circumstances (i.e. stuck in snow). You can set DSC off in the M-drive menu or, once in MDM, press the DSC button on the dash for a few seconds until the dash displays "DSC Inactive." Launch control will only activate in MDM or DSC Off. Also, MDM will not be displayed between the gauges when DSC is off. Instead, a yellow icon with a car, squiggly lines and the word "Off" will be between the gauges. And the radio and heads-up will display "DSC Inactive!" for a few seconds.

All sounds about right I've been using the same setup except for edc. I've been leavin that off. I'll try it again with it on. Looking to drop another 10th off of those 60fts and this thing will really be ripping!

Went back to the track again... Tried both suspension settings and I get much better results with EDC turned off or in normal mode.

Alright so my setup as of now is as follows.

M mode sport power.
EDC normal.
T/C off.
Also I put the running lights on. Not auto or in the off position over to the runners. Might sound weird but Ive got my best times when in that position.

I also run with a\c off, i'd add that to your "launch method" if you havent already, i just do that every time I race. curious if youve tried a\c on versus off and seen a difference at the strip, shouldnt make a huge difference but all the little things help

Yep ac is always off. Got a best pass of 12.35@112 with a tune alone.
