New to BMW
Hi all, Im new to the board. I thinking about getting a 2003 X5 4.6is. It's super clean, alittle less than 52000 miles. The seller wants around $26000. Its loaded, leather, power everything, sunroof, Navi. Only thing I didnt see was the pano' roof in back. It seems the 4.6 are rare, I've done a few local searches, ebay, carmax ect.. I've never owned a bimmer yet but have always admired them. Never really thought I could afford one. Anyway could someone give me alittle insite on these?
I checked Nada and they are right on, just a hair under clean retail. Just wandering how long I can drive one without putting a ton of money into it? What are the major maintainence intervals that are coming up? We tend to drive are vehicle over 100k miles and then get ride of them . My wife currently drives an 03 V8 Explorer XLT (106,000miles) and were looking at this bimmer. Thanks Corey |

I say go for it! The 4.6is is a bit less refined than the 4.8is...it feels untamed. This is a great thing if you're into performance and modding as there's loads of options, for example, Dinan. There's interesting and exclusive history behind the development of the 4.6is.
They can be expensive to maintain, however there's always the option of 3rd party warranty. Service I & II intervals are at 30k & 60k. I suggest signing up at X5world.com and doing a search, there's loads of extensive info. |
