thinking of buying ... Any thoughts??
i have a 2011 335si convertible but need more space so thinking of getting a X5. looking for a late model optioned up and mulling over the diesel option. I heard stories of leaking seals on the gas engines ... any thoughts of that ?? Also my budget will be around $30-$35k. what should i be looking for to want or stay away from??? Any help would be appreciated... Thanks

Love my 2011 35d. I was in a similar situation and ultimately decided against the v8 models, too many issues. The Diesel engines are bullet proof, have great torque and the mileage is great. All that being said the weak point is the emissions system. Seems that most people have issues with the passive DEF tank level sensor. Not a huge repair in comparison to those associated with the v8s. Finding one well equipped will require more searching than the other model options but I couldn't be happier with my decision. Given your budget you should be able to get a well equipped one with 35-55k miles and possibly CPO.
