x6 winter tire help
To buy a whole set of winter tire 18inch for x6, my dealership quoted me 5K (including taxes) for the 4 set of tires. Is this right? Also, my dealer gave me a side offer of getting me a set of tires for the X6 at 3.6K cash from his wholesaler. (also 18inch) These are Canadian prices and wanted to know how much everyone were paying for their winter tires. Thanks.
P.S Is getting 20 inch winter tire better than 18inch???? |

For an X6, you would be ok to go with either 19" or 20" wheels and snow tires. That price quote from your dealer is crazy. What are they smoking? Are you buying a set of four tires or four sets of tires? |

sorry for asking noobie question... if I order 4 set of rims + tires, and they are all the same size would they fit? or are the rear bigger than the front wheels? Also do you mind telling me which exact set of rims you ordered? i just wanted to be really clear before I order from the website so i dont make any mistakes.

I got my winter set-up one year used from another X6 owner...Wheels are not OEM, the rubber is Pirelli Scorpion. For me, new OEM wheels are just not worth the extra $$'s for winter...Others wouldn't have it any other way. If I was buying new, I'd get a set-up from tire-rack and pocket the extra $$ for other stuff. I've had very good luck with them over the years and across my 3's, 5's and now X6. BTW, X6 + Snow Tires is a beast in the winter..It's pretty unbelievable..

I got my tires from Tire Rack. And the rims from http://www.getbmwparts.com/ because having OEM rims IS very important to me. If you live in Canada, dealer prices are insane. Getbmwparts.com is about 40% cheaper, after duties, etc.

I have been driving for a month now on my winter rims and tires and I must say the car drives incredibly. It was -20c today and we have a fair bit of snow. Very impressed.

I paid approximate £780 for 4 x 275 x 40 x 20 winter tyres( Vredestein wintrac exteme) over in Scotland. They were hard to get a hold of and I couldn't get a 315 x 35 tyre so had to go with 4 front tyres. They do look a bit odd on the 11" rear wheel but are perfectly safe

I believe you don't need the tire pressure monitors if you have rubber valve stem on your original wheels/tires.

You may be right. It looks like you get Tire Pressure Warning (TPW) which may be the old Flat Tire Monitor (TPM) system.

He is correct. It uses the ABS sensor to calculate the speed of each wheel.

X6 5.0 winter tire package question
Does anyone know if the BMW winter tire package for the x6 M style 298m is compatible on the X6 5.0. I am getting a new one in azurite black in a month and I need good snows...like his style of rim over the suggested rim tire package offered by BMW. Does anyone know the answer to this question? Thanks and drive safe this holiday season!!
