Need help with my 2013 X5M!

Have had this car for a year, no problems.

About 3 weeks ago, when accelerating with rpms above 1800 the car would make a "eeeeeeeeeeee" whine like a supercharger or something.. Which is something that you would not hear from a car like this.

Took it to the dealer and they told me that it's COMPLETELY normal and I should not worry about it.

Which is not helping atm, because its kinda not normal :/

Try and make a video of the sound to replicate it if you can.

Does it make the sound when you turn the steering wheel at low speeds?

At first I thought it was pretty normal, but now I hear the whine you're talking about. It's tough to say from a video but it sounds like a bad bearing on one of your accessories.

Are we referring to the sound at 0:19 in the video?

Hello OP. Always nice to see a fellow countryman. I grew up in DXB

Looks like you are in the Rashidya or emirates road area you are driving in.

That does sounds like a bad bearing. Any after market parts?

I bet you are beating it hard on Sheikh Zayed Road

Maybe a good 240 point check might reveal something. I remember AL-Futiam had a good BMW mechanic shop in the Jumeirah. Have them take a look at it.

Is this something really bad ? simple to fix ? what do you recommend me to do at this stage, because I am very willing to f*** my engine up already just to get a new one. Just because the engineer at the dealer told me its OKAY.

If your car is still under warranty and the mechanic told you in writing all is well, keep driving it hard I say.

I would say it is what another poster said. Possible bearing or something with the turbo if it is that loud once it starts spooling. I can barely hear the turbos spool in my x5M.

As long as its documented OP by the dealer and something does happen ill will, there is nothing they can do other than help and replace..unless the tune has caused some sort of issue.

Ask the tuner who did the software. See if they are familiar with this sound. I have found that some of these tuners or more knowledgeable than your average mechanic.

On another note, are those CF mirror housings you have or are they just painted black?

If CF would love to know of they are complete replacements and where you got them.

Good luck OP.

Any new news, I am also hearing this sound. I am thinking that it could be the jockey pulley.

It turns out to be infact coming from the pulley, Confirmed from the Dealer.
