Which Option would you choose?
If you had to choose between Heads-Up Display or Active Steering which one would you choose?

The adaptive drive is part of the sport pack and costs $3700.
HUD is about $1400. big difference in price. I would rather have the sport pack regardless of price difference. HUD is nice. However, it is only useful when used with Nav. Otherwise is just displays speed and a few other minor things. In the M cars, HUD displays RPM as well making it more worthwhile I suppose.

I like active steering. It came with my 645 included with the sport pack.
Now it is a separate option and I am not sure it is worth the money. The car or X6 will certainly be easier to drive. It is not for everyone though. But I would still take the sport pack/active drive over active steering or HUD.

Do you have it on your X6? I am leaning toward the HUD instead as I have read a lot of mixed reviews about the active steering.

No experience with active steering, so I can't comment on it. But I had HUD on my Corvette and I grew to appreciate it so much that I think it should be standard on all vehicles. This may sound like an esoteric point, but when you have a digital display of speed positioned in mid air in front of you such that it appears right next to a sign showing the speed limit -- also digital -- it makes comprehension a lot faster and easier. For those of us with a tendency to over-use the right foot, it can save embarrassing moments with gentlemen in uniform.

The reason was that i did testdrive a new X5 with active steering and i didnt like the feeling at high speeds (my x5 4,4 -05 did not have active steering). It almost felt that you didnt have full controll over the car with active steering (did do some strange move from side to side somtimes). But as i said its maybe a "get use to thing" And one more thing, i just love the road feeling on my X6 without it so i can tell you you can for sure live without it ! I would go for the hud (wish i had it on mine after reading what Suzie's Dad say ) |

Funny you say that because I was thinking that same thing that it could possibly even help avoid some tickets because reaction time is a little quicker when you do not have to glance down to see what your speed is and then react and slow down. |

I ordered my 50i with both options
I liked the way active steering controls the car...

Some people say Active steering is too expensive for what it offers you. .
Some people say that wearing Raybans with polarized lenses in day broadlight will make the HUD almost invisible. Some people say that BMW Night Vision will be more useful than other extra options. .if introduced to the X6. . but neah. . .they didn't think yet about that. . so people living in foggy areas, just sit tight and wait for it. . . |
