E85 fuel = Increased horsepower?
Can I safely run E85 fuel on stock 2011 X6?
Will it increase horsepower/torque? How about fuel consumption? Thanks |

Inside the fuel door it says what type of fuel to use, you didn't state if it was 35i or 50i but I don't think E85 is an option.

Nope. Can't use E85 on a stock X5.
There may be a conversion kit around, but BMW's official stance is they don't recommend it. Contrary to some info floating around, 'good' E85 tops out at about 94-97 octane and not 105 octane. Also, this octane rating will decrease substantially within a relatively short time as the fuel ages, so if you buy from a station with old E85 (no way to tell) you'll get a lower octane than you'd get with normal premium. To top it all off, E85 gets about 30% less mpg than regular fuel, so unless you're local price is >30% less expensive than premium it's not even a good value.

My X6 is a 2011 35i so for Burger tuning I only found this: http://burgertuning.com/N55_Jb_BMW_P...nce_Tuner.html But.. I researched more about the Burger JB tune, I was able to find this post http://www.xbimmers.com/forums/showt...php?p=16302574 He said that the ecu on his 2013 X6 35i was damaged after using the JB tune. Is the tune for 2011 X6 different from 2013 X6? I'm quite unsure of purchasing JB tune after reading the post though. Does anyone have experience with JB tune N55 Stage 1 for 2011 BMW X6 35i? |

Realistically though, it's not possible to tell what caused the issue so it could have been a case of the JB4 being improperly installed, and/or just a coincidence that the computer failed while the tune was installed. I've seen a few other cases where someone doesn't connect a harness all the way, and they get reduced power messages...easily cured by ensuring everything is plugged in securely. Also, the JB4 has some adjustable settings, so it's possible those could have been messed with as well. The Stage 1 is a pretty mild tune in comparison. The N54tech forums will be your best bet for feedback from those who have the tune installed.
