To be Diesel or not to be Diesel - That is the question!

I am currently hunting for a used X5 Diesel. I found one that is the best color (in my opinion). I have been reading that these diesels are fantastic on gas and repairs. The woman said she is SLIGHTLY negotiable. WHAT SHOULD I PAY? Here is a link: http://www.globalautosports.com/car/...SUV-41016.html

PLEASE ADVISE!!!!

For that price, you should build your own and buy new. I believe there is still a diesel credit plus around now BMW usually has a holiday credit.
Last year I combined a 3500$ diesel credit with a 2500$ holiday credit and a 1800$ tax credit

$55k for $61k MSPR with 29000 miles!! LOL. You can buy a new one with the same config for MUCH less. 35d has:
2500 eco credit
1730 nav credit
1000 november lease/finance incentive

You should be able to negotiate 500-1000 over invoice and THEN apply the above discounts. You are looking at 10k-11k off MSRP. Good luck.

I was in the same boat as this guy - started off by looking at used, thinking that new ones will be out of my budget. To my surprise, prices for used X5 diesels were same as I could pay for new! After factory discounts of course.

Now, when time comes to sell mine in a couple years, I am hoping to find a client like I was (or almost became).

Same here, looked at used ones, but really hard to find what I wanted. In the end it's pretty easy to get $9-11K off msrp on a new one which might end up even with a 2010/2011 cpo and $2-3K more than a 2009-2010 cpo. Not a bad deal at all.

FYI, I was looking this past summer at cpo 2011 X5d and they were $55-58K

PS: You're right, that is the best color and very hard to find!

Good info, I did not know that. I bought mine Dec '10
