Changed Settings

Having recently purchased an X6 5.0 I was surprised after only a few days, that when I entered the car after an overnight or a few hours, the audio system had reverted to the radio (when I left the car a CD was playing) and that the steering wheel and seat memory settings had changed.

I am also noticing a whining noise coming from the A/C after 20 mins or so.

Any advice other than taking it back to the dealer of course.

Thx.

Not sure about the whining.

However, for the memory settings, did you by chance use the other key fob? There is a setting in iDrive to use the same setting for both keys or individually.

ah ha......good call. I think the spare keys were in my briefcase and I naturally assumed the car was reading the key in my pocket.

I will try with only 1 key in range in future.

Thx so much.

Happened to me too. Individual key setup was a surprise and the dealer didn't mention it in the delivery speech.

As for the A/C, check the vents to see that the are open, including those in the back seat. If they are nearly closed, you can get the whine. Why 20 minutes later, no idea. Good luck, your car is great looking!

Chuck I thought all the settings were stored in the FOB. How does the settings from one FOB get to the other one ? If true this is cool and will check manual tonight on where the setting is. I would like to swap FOBs every once in a while to keep them charged ( they still need to be plugged in to charge ?).

You need to use each fob and do the setup. As far as I know, you can't copy fob to fob.

ok then I don't understand the quote from chuck " There is a setting in iDrive to use the same setting for both keys or individually."

If I have to do the settings for each fob why would there be a setting in idrive to use the same setting for both keys. Sorry guys the logic is just lost on me.

I couldn't find a setting to make the fobs work the same. Maybe Chuck can shed some light on it for us. My were programmed independently.
