Hey all. I started a thread on the 335d side for a possible aftermarket fix on our dreaded harmonic dampener wear problem. If we can get enough interest Fluidampr will engineer a lifetime fix! Here is the link for anyone interested.

Harmonic Balancer Pulley Fluidampr http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1255658

Ask me your questions, we need a minimum of 50 people interested for them to begin design and production. Thanks guys!!!

*Update*

Fluidampr release soon...

I would say. The engine is very similar to the one found in 335d just small changes. It seems like the oem balancers are dying around 60k for our 335; but we are also upgrading the turbos and running extra fuel... So that being said IMO if you are stock and under warranty you probably wont need it. But if you are out of warranty and would like to keep the sav around most likely this part will fail in the near future with no warning... These fluidampr are rated to be good over 500k, solid performer as well. Oem dampeners are in the $600 range, we may be able to get a much better product a little less that this price... Hope this helps, thanks.

In general, the Fluidampers, even though often HEAVIER than stock, actually make the car produce more power (Or perhaps I should phrase it, free up power?)

Those parts if made for our cars, are a very legit piece of gear. Never thought of when compared to a fancy exhaust or tune. But still a solid part to install.

Original is heavy enough (~15 lb if I'm not mistaken), not sure I'd like an even heavier one.
And btw, OEM (Corteco) can be found under $400.

It's not the weight, but the engineering that goes into it. It's actually a better product than stock, even if heavier.

In your link they compare a ~5lb pulley vs <2lb OEM on a rather small 4 cyl engine. I doubt in a M57 application there will be any difference worth mentioning. Just my guess.

But if at comparable price it lasts 3 times the BMW unit, that's enough by itself.

How do you know when it fails? Vibration from the engine bay?

Squeaks/screeching sound, intermittent loss of power steering/battery charge, mayhem once it completely splits apart and rips everything in front...
