New member here, about to buy a 35D, question about repairs
Hi all,
I'm looking at an 11 35D with 61,500 miles on it. Car is exactly what I want in terms of options (only has preferred, sport, and upgraded stereo) and color (gray outside, cinnamon brown inside). Main question is the concern about repairs needing to be done and there being no warranty. I could buy a $3,000 warranty to cover it for 2-3 years (depending on who I buy it through), but I'm trying not to spend too much here and I feel like it may be a waste. I've done a lot of car work myself. About the only thing I haven't ever done is disassemble a bottom end or a head. But I've done head gaskets, cooling system replacements, etc. So I feel like I could probably do a lot of the stuff that may be required on this vehicle. That said, I've done all that stuff on easy/cheap cars like Subarus and Miatas. If one has solid mechanical abilities, is doing it yourself on these X5s anything to worry about? |

I have intermediate mechanical skills, and have no reservations about doing stuff myself. There are many resources if you turn your own wrench, such as Bavarian Auto. I would have greater reservations about the V8.
