Question on Side Marker

I'm looking to purchase an X5 (E70) and came across this little sensor on the side reflector. This is the only one I've seen when shopping around so i am curious as to what it does exactly.

I tried googling but no avail. I could ask the dealership but chances are they wouldnt know without escalating to a tech.

Ive attached a picture for reference, front bumper side deflector there is a black camera/sensor type thing.

Is it a collision warning mechanism and how does one put it to use? Parking assist?

Should be a side view camera if your referring to the top of the orange front bumper reflector.

See if it also has head up display on dash/windshield. What year is the X? The side view camera was typically part of the Technology Pkg that bundled cameras and head up display and I think auto high beams.

That's right. The little black spot on the orange reflector on the bumper. Interesting... Never occured to me it was a camera. Definetely interested in this X now. Going to revisit it this weekend to confirm.

It's a 2011 Diesel. I didnt catch anything on the heads up display. Will look for something!

As a result I picked up another X5 local to me and it has birds eye view, sports package, technology package and few other goodies.

I must say I am very happy I chose this X5 Diesel over the competition.
