E70 35i bms stage 1 users feedback request

Hey all. Have a 11 35i premium, and finally just ordered bms stage 1 piggy. It will be delivered next week.

Just want to hear everyones review who have it and if the power is noticeable. I did research alot but got mixed reviews because of the cars weight.

Main things to me are little improvement in throttle response , more boost lowend because I only feel a massive surge at full throttle at any rpm right now and of course more power lol

Oh and since default boost is 3.5, anyone increase it to 6 with the software? Any diff u feel?

Thanks all

I have the stage 1 installed. To be honest, I can't really tell the difference on a car this heavy. The throttle lag is still there but using torque pro app to calculate hp and torque, I do get slightly higher numbers. Haven't done a ton of testing without the tune though since I just took it off last week. I believe stock boost is 7psi, and the tune adds 3 on top of that.

I just did a quick run today on the highway to see the calculated hp and tq numbers without a tune. with a tune, I was getting similar numbers but it is all dependent on the weight in the car, atmosphere parameters, etc.
270 hp, 280 tq calculated at the wheels

Nice, thanks for the output. Nice setup BTW.

Yea Cobb was alot more money. Didn't want to spend that on a tune.

Does anyone know if the BMS Stage 1 the same exact box for the N55/N20/N26 applications?
It states in the description that "The same box automatically detects whether you have an N20, N55, or S55 motor based on the TMAP sensor voltage and adjusts the tuning accordingly." But when you drop down to purchase, they have 3 different N55 options. I'm trying to purchase this used, but no sure if it's the correct application

Hey all, installed the box today. Just went around the block to see if all is still in order. The turbo sounds like it louder. I can hear it more especially with the windows down. Louder blow off. The motor feels more Rev happy. I'm gonna take it for a longer drive later today. I'll post another review after the weekend.

final review

so installed it early sat morning, no issues so far.

as far as drivability, like omgboost mentioned that it's not a significant feel in increase of power i do however hear the turbo spool up quicker at lower rpms, also at full throttle, i can hear air gushing out the exhaust in the back right. kinda weird. exhaust is louder at all rpms.

It does accelerate quicker, and second gear, you can feel the torque as soon as the turbo kicks in right after 2k. launching in second gear feels like first gear before the piggy now. the engine feels and sounds more effortless when accelerating. it does go thru gears a lot quicker than stock. however i don't have numbers to prove anything as i didn't measure before and after.

i feel like drivability is better, little more linear throttle. one thing i don't' like about the n55 vs my last turbo cars is that it feels like very little boost unless you floor it. it's not linear.

as far as the bms piggy, i think i'll keep it. i like the daily drivability of it, i'll add a inbox filter and see if it does anything.

attached are screen shots as i couldn't find good ones anyone made. i did push back the bax slightly to the first zip tie in the picture but stays in tight.

Hey guys, so a quick update after having it in for a week. Definatly feel a power increase. Turbo spools up alot lower in the RPM band and you can feel more torque in each gear. The engine revs more evenly now and engine feels effortless to rev to redline. Before it used to die off after 5-6k, now it pulls to redline.

I got to seat in the passenger seat before and after the piggy, and you can really tell a big diff as a passenger. I guess as a driver, we expect the power so it does feel like a big diff.

I really like the torque for daily drivability, it's like boost is almost always there now and kinda feels like a v8 as throttle goes. Alot more linear throttle. Everyone should buy this lol

On a scale of 1-10, how happy are you with this? I'm contemplating this and I'm very close to buying!

8/10. I'm happy with it because people have been using it for a long time with no issues. And it's cheap for what it delivers. I went new for s warranty reasons but used are dirt cheap. I think we can increase boost with jb3 software but I'm still researching it.

Cobb doesn't list a solution for the E70 2012-2013?

I thought about that too, but couldn't figure out how to get the cable through the firewall so I abandoned it

Ha yea seems a bit too difficult.it's easier just to remove the cabin filter housing and plug it in. I do feel as though the performance has improved since I first installed it to now. It's taking time to re-adjust i guess.

Installed a BMS stage 1 today I picked up used on eBay. I've gotta say that I'm not as impressed as I'd hoped to be. You can definitely tell a difference, but I'd say it's less of a performance difference than going into sport mode (without the stage 1). Perhaps it has something to do with it being used and having to relearn my car. ?
