Out of that list of yours, I've met a few. A great call to add helminen to your list. That one is a hometown boy of mine.
So tell me, why is Detroit a city for your liking? (And I apologize for leaving off Jokinen - horrible oversight on my part (Oli or course, not the young one.))

The people were taking a picture of themselves with Cena. I got out, gave him a friendly nod, he smiled and did the same. Was nice enough to accommodate the people asking for a picture. That car sounded sick when he started it, like a super low growl / super charger sound. Don't even know if it's super charged. He sat in his car for a minute or two texting before pulling out. I wanted to talk to him about the car and his other cars. Dude's car collection is bigger than he is. lol

On a side note, i too my parents out for dinner last night (dads birthday) and they're old, so we had 6:15 reservations. We parked via valet and they parked the RR up front. We came out, there was a Murciélago, 2 911 Turbos, 1 911, Congenital GT, Merc SLS, 3 other RRs, Panamera.... this place was hopping with cool cars.

I went to Detroit last summer. I was meeting a friend later but since I had time, I decided to wash my car. To say that experience was epic, is a mild understatement.

I had a nice hotel room with a valet who actually draw me a map of the areas where not to go. The list was so long it wasn't even funny, and naturally I went against his directions (and I don't obey navigation devices since they are right even when I'm more right!!!) .

Two hours later I had seen the sights you see in crime shows and funny enough, a guy who I helped to repair his car decided to find me a car wash and explained to me why I apparently don't get shot in places I should be.

I've been to the major big cities of the NA, but Detroit is by far my favorite. There is no way a blondie from finland will ever find herself from under a 30 year old car trying to isolate a leak, street race more mustangs than the public Finnish education teaches us to count, ends up on a 5am breakfast with a nun, goes into a biker bar for a beer and gets to see the genuine beauty of people that have been pushed down too many times and yet have more attitude than she has.

Our beloved Billup promised to be my tour guide for the next time around. I can't wait to return there.

I've been to places we all are told are beautiful but I like my views tough and uncut.

Oh, olli Jokinen! The man I've met before he grew balls and became a team player. I can't comment (nicely) on his skills as a player but I can say his change as a person is bigger than any athlete I've met has gone through.

Very cool. I am glad you had a good experience. Many other people have very different stories to tell. There is, for example, the Russian violinist I met who game to audition for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra who Ma's held up at knifepoint and only saved by two shopowners with guns who didn't want their store to be seen as dangerous. It is a city with a lot of character. Much of it is, sadly, just a no go zone. There are parts where it is literally a bad idea to stop at stop signs. But for all of that, the city does have a lot of character and a unique identity. I agree that it is more interesting than many cities that are prepped and ready for tourism. It is important to know where you want to go and where not to go. The car culture is pretty great now. For a long time, there was a strong anti-import bias that was virulent and dangerous, but they have learned to embrace the whole of car culture. You should plan your next visit around the Woodward Dream Cruise. If you did not see it the first time, the Henry Ford Museum is pretty great. When I got my first tat as a white kid from the burbs, we had to go downtown to get them. They didn't do tattoos in the burbs back then. I learned the difference between a Motorcycle Gang and a Motorcycle Club that day. Haha. He was not impressed when I asked if he was in a Gang. I was such a knob. I've learned a lot since then, graduated from knob to noob at least. If you need an alternate (or assistant) tour guide, let me know!

Fuck yes! Two of my list of five of favorite things in the world: Hockey and detroit!

I suck with faces. I recognize people from their noses but I don't get why someone should be bothered.

Of course the sexiest men alive, Richard dean Anderson and glen danzig are exceptions.

You're thinking of MacGyver or was it MacGruber?

Dude nobody travels like I do. My version of a family holiday (when I was a kid) was ending up on missing persons lists of interpol, and as an adult and as a mom they are apparently (from today) "who finds the biggest snake" contests. I stay safe by not being afraid.

You didn't. Ask your wife (Stephanie is her name as you very well know, and she painted her toenails orange today, go ahead, check!!) about the grumpy electrician who fixed your bathroom lights and your personal shaver (or as the electrician kept calling it: The satans tool to destroy real beauty)!

Don't worry, I don't bill ya. That would've been mean.

And for the record, I am not stalking you, I am just taking care of you!

Wife is away visiting sister so I can't check her toes, but will text her and ask. It won't seem unusual for her to send me sexy toe pics.

Thanks for taking care of me mom!

I know Dolly Cole(Ed Cole's widow, if you don't know Ed look it up) and we eat breakfast with her at Brickyard Crossing before the Indy 500. She always has famous folks around. Mario Andretti, Ruth Buzzie, and 1 year Jim Neighbors sang happy birthday to my dad. It was really something.
For the youngsters Jim was Gomer Pyle and was on Andy Griffith show. Both big hits in '70s. He sings "back home again" before the 500.
Ruth Buzzie was a comedian on Laff In during the '70s and was with Bob Hope entertaining the troops.
Mario Andretti drove Indy and NASCAR and F1 (I think). He has a whole family of racers. And he pitches magnaflow mufflers.
