Hello,
perhaps the US is not the main market anymore( for this car)... i think the see the market in eastern europe, russia and the arab states (perhaps asia too). they love the design of those huge grills and everything. i dont like the design eather... the x6M looks good, the x5M .... (ist looks like from a cheap tuner...). Greetings from Munich Marco Edit: but the sound of those two cars is.... . i think i heard it with the european street legal exaust system... you in the us gettin a face like this when you hear them... |

Hate it. Ugly. I've always found all X6 ugly. Why would anyone want a half car half SUV?
Less capacity than an X5. Worse handling, etc. than any car they make. Costs more. Makes no sense. If ti cost $5k less than an X5 I could see someone considering it if they could get past the ugly rear end just like we had to get past the ugly last gen 7 series fat ass or people get past the RL Merc looking like a hearse. The BMW guys at the dealership thought it wouldn't sell. It won't long time. People bought the first ones because they were different, not good looking. To put all the M stuff behind it is a waste. They should have done this to an X5, not X6. Or better yet, where's the X7 to complete with the GL anyway?

Ok, this is probably the only x6 I would drive...
But, I would choose the x5 M over it in a heartbeat and I'm going to bet the x5 will cost less.

I would rather they made an x1m or x3m. I would love an x6m, but I would have to have unlimited money to justify buying it.

Did I read those specs right? 555@6000, with a 7000rpm redline? N54 powerband in an M car?
I sincerely hope that isn't that M5 motor or it will be lambasted by reviewers.

My advice to the haters is to reserve judgment until we have some road tests. If BMW M indeed made two big fat SUVs that are slow and don't handle, then flame all the hell you want. But IMO, as much as people may not agree with the form an M is taking, I think BMW just bred some physics defying Monsters. These SUVs probably go around the 'ring faster than M5/6, or maybe even the M3. M stands for Monster. |

Opinions seem quite divided here. No doubt it's very quick, and handles better than anything else in the class. Main question is whether the class makes sense. I guess if people buy them, it makes sense. |

I just wonder why some people constantly complaining about many BMWs new designs... It's a matter of taste and subjective topic. I'm sure we all have different opinions just like we do about other cars. I personally find their recent designs more attractive.
Do you think BMW would just throw in Millions of $$$ just to put out a failing product? Remember the previous generation 7-series...how much criticism that car has received, yet it was the most succcessful BMW in terms of sales. Also, compare it to other competitors just as Cayenne turbo and ML63, you see that there's still a good market for this segment, otherwise, why would they keep producing these kind of vehicles. Personally, I find the X6 very attractive and sporty, and manages to combine several car characters in one design. However, I'm not sure if I would Justify paying extra $20-25K+ for an M version, given that the standard 50i already has plenty of power. Also, From what I know, their residual values is worse than the standard model and the running costs are high. Regarding the exterior design for the X6M, I feel neutral about the new look. Rear design look good, however, I'd rather have the standard rear design with a painted body color pumpers and side exhaust pipes. As for the front, it looks OK. But I just feel it's missing something... Maybe a nice set of LEDs such as GTS. I think the front design on the M model has to do with function over form factor, which is to increase air flow to the engine. At the end, I'm sure many of us will have a second opinion when we see the car in real life, just as many did about the new 7-series. |
