Differential fluid for E70 X5m
Has anyone changed diff fluid on their X5m. This is what I paid at an Indy shop albeit he procured the fluid from bmw dealership. Are these prices fair for front and rear diff fluid change?

seems about right. Those silly XO Fluids from the dealer only comes in .5 qt ($50ea)or whatever , so you need 4 of them to make 2Qt(1qt front , 1qt rear). Then the other 2 side of the rear diff take another 2qt.
The rest is M tax. |

Prices of the oil are high, dealer$ship prices. You would pay less ordering yourself. 1 hour labor for both is fair. It does take time to drain, especially if not warmed. And damn does the old fluid smell. |

Ravenol is the way to Go...
A good tool to select what's needed is using Germanparts.ca and http://specchart.com/automotive/2013.../s63b44a+turbo I just did everything on a 2013 X6M including transmission and transfer case...for about 1100 Canadian (Parts and Labour)....the only thing the indy supplied was the Hepu Coolant..the rest I bought from German parts...including the tranny fluid (ZF Lifeguard6). The biggest expense was the tranny fluid... |
