Just flashed MHD S1+ tonight. Nice improvement in low to midrange power. Almost feels like a diesel with the increased lowdown torque. The burble option also gives it a bit of that missing exhaust note.

Thanks man. She was a great car, lots of fun but so glad we have the X5 now. Between the tune, the extra space and actually being able to put the power down to the road, it hasn't been too tough of a transition

You are sooooo correct on that one! I do miss my 335i as well, I wanted to do a big ST top mount but needed the extra space for sure. Options for our cars for simple bolt-ons are available. They may not say E70 or X5 pending on the description but they do exist just takes a bit of researching as you already know

Aside for a mild tune, I've vowed to keep the X5 in stock form . That said, if one were to hypothetically explore the modding limits of an N55 equipped e70; I'd imagine the drivetrain (trans, transfer case, etc) may be the big question mark. We're already seeing the N55 push north of 600whp with big single, PI and custom tune on the e9x platform. Curious as to the tq/hq limits of the 8-speed trans in the e70.

I believe the 8-speed trans has about the same limits as the 6AT internally. but no one has pushed it that far. I don't see BMW making the 8AT weaker on a heavier vehicle all together.

Right now I believe we have the Stock Block N55 (unofficial) power record at a Dynojet converted 670whp,605wtq

But willing to bet, around 500wtq is where the 8AT should be left torque wise to last for a bit. But this is all speculation based on the 6AT

Completely understandable, I may just stay stock and keep running the stg 1+ which I don't have any complaints on. Plus the E70 is the DD which I plan on keeping without breaking down due to aftermarket parts lol Yet as Justin mentioned they should have the same specs on the 6AT even if we are 8AT

From what I've seen, the 35i uses the ZF 8HP450 which supports max torque of 450 nm or 332 ft lbs. There are many discussions over the boards about this and people have generally ran their tuned cars well over the max torque as indicated by ZF and haven't had issues yet.

Just getting into this now.

Any updates I should know about?

I'm currently running a bms intake and an exhaust cutout. Looking for more power and sound. Was considering running a catless downpipe and seeing what my tuning options were.

It's a 2012 and my dd with about 98k on it. Anything big I should be worried about before getting into the tuning?

Nothing to be worried about. Just make sure your car is up to the task. IE- maintenance kept up and etc. and if your plugs are more than 20k miles old, i'd probably replace them for good measure and check gaps

+ 1 on what Justin said

I did the tune in the high 70K mile range, I'm in the 80s now with zero issues and loving every bit of this tune. Just make sure your maintenance is good to go and you'll be fine as mentioned

Question for the Mhd N55 pros,
I'm adding the Vrsf downpipe with Cel delete and charge pipe to my 13 35i. Everything else stock. Adding the Mhd tune will clearly make the truck run better. However will it also be able to turn off the CEL im case it pops up from the DP?

It clears the codes but they're never put in the "ready" state so you will still fail emissions (if this applies to you)

The CEL delete should get rid of the code for you. If you have to pass emissions, the CEL delete nor the tune won't pass emissions for you. The tune will auto clear the DP code so you won't see the CEL on your dash. However, if sometime does happen with your sensor or emissions and it actually throws that code, you won't know it because it auto clears it.

What some people do is install a cat simulator that tricks the ECU to thinking that the cat is running normally and put the cat into ready state, allowing you to pass emissions. This won't throw any codes and if your car actually throws the code, that means something is wrong with your emissions.

That depends on state. Most states allow one monitor to not be ready state as the time of inspection. As long as the particular state (Cali) doesn't specify exactly which monitor can't be not ready. You will pass.

Passed in NY. Only one monitor is not ready with the Cat codes disabled. But Cali specifically says cat monitor bot ready is a fail.

MHD does NOT autoclear codes. That is a JB4 issue. MHD disables the check for the specific code. Thus only causing one monitor specific topic that code to stay in a Not ready state. Unlike JB4 which resets every monitor whenever it autoclears a code.

How long until you are FBO?

edit: I just saw above you said you are keeping it stock. So are you buying a fun car then or are you lying to us?

Thanks for the info guys. Waiting on the DP and then will buy the Mhd stage 2 and see how it goes. Btw I am in cali and just passed smog. So I have 2 years left before I need to go back. I plan on installing back the Oem DP and flash back to stock when that time comes.

Sounds like Mhd has a great tune at an affordable price. Cant wait to install and give everyone my reviews!

Let's just say that I might have some things up my sleeve on the fun car front. Would likely be in the late Spring/early Summer, and one small clue... it's the only car to come from the factory in Meteorite Silver :-)
