What is the "Storage Compartment Package"

Just wondering where it adds storage space to the X6 and if it's of any real use.

Thanks,
KJ

The Storage Package is part of the Premium Package in the U.S.

The Storage Package includes lashing rails with four sliding lashing eyes, multi-function hooks, storage net and lighting.

See pic from bmwusa.com.

I read on cars.com that the storage package includes...
  • Storage Package
  • Includes light in storage compartment, 12V socket in center console, multi-function hooks, storage net, 2 lashing rails and 4 sliding lashing eyes in the luggage compartment.
So I am not sure what the scoop is on the 12v socket in the center console. I would think it would be standard in the center console. And the 12v socket in the rear compartment would be part of the storage package.

Since I have the Premium Package I cannot tell what is what. Maybe someone without the Premium package can chime in.

Besides above I have a power socket in the cargo area on the right side. Not sure what they mean by "12V socket in center console" , my front console has power port, rear front (where backseat vents are) has one and the rear console between back seats has one.

It's part of a different package in Canada. Now that I see that that's all it is, I'm not getting the package anymore!

Thanks!!!

I am not sure how much it costs but I like it. Especially having the very nice tie down hook system and the rear 12v jack for ice chests and such. The extra lighting in the rear at night is nice as well.

The Activity Package (C$1,300) includes: Aluminum Running Boards, Ski Bag, Storage Compartment Package, Headlamp Washers.

I don't understand why they put the headlamp washers into this package. Anyway, I got every possible package and additional items that are not listed on the website on my order.

KJ, I know you mentioned somewhere else that you like the Black Sapphire Metallic exterior, what did you pick for your trim and seats?

Yeah, I HATE headlamp washers. Everytime they, spray, it leaves streaks of dirt all over the car. I would always have to turn the headlights off to spray the windows to avoid that. At least on some other cars, you have the option of spraying the headlights or not.

As for the interior, I picked beige. I've ALWAYS been a Silver exterior, black interior guy. EASY to keep clean, and suits my taste. But now I'm going with Sapphire Black on the outside and beige on the inside. Both harder to keep clean, but I didn't want to go black on black because I thought it might be too dark.
