Too Much Attention
I just took delivery last Saturday of a 2008 X6 xDrive3.5i in Vermillion Red over Black, and this car attracts way too much attention. I get people asking me who gave me he keys to their car. I've only driven it 100 miles, and I just don't get why this cars attracts people so much. Now I am scared to par and leave it on a street. Sometimes you just want to be incognito. What the hell should I do? My previous cars were:

You are definitely going to get a lot of attention and it definitely goes with the territory for a vehicle this sexy and new! I definitely don't regret all the attention you get but there are definitely times when I wish I could just arrive certain places without being noticed but oh well. |

I personally have not noticed any additional attention.
It might be because all the other cars are always BEHIND me so I can't get a good look at the driver's expression. I doubt they could see anything but a white blur and the big beefy tires.

Well mine gets far amount of attention and I live in town where exotic cars are the norm ( there are Ferrari, Lotus, Bentley and Lamborghini dealerships).
I think the VR is just going to stick out more. |

I went with space gray, the VR is spectacular but I learned a long time ago that with my driving style a red sports car is not a good idea. SG is kind of stealth, I think I get attention because I live in a town where people are aware of cars. On the weekends going out to breakfast besides the exotics it's not unusual to see cobra's ,Tigers and assorted 32 roadsters.
If I didn't have the need for speed would have done the VR. |

Enjoy the attention while you have it - I think it will be an aspirational car for many people for a long time to come, and the great thing about it is that they can picture themselves owning it with pride as well! Cheers, Anteater |

I know what you mean
KingBimmer,
I went through the same with My wife's 04 PORSCHE CAYENNE back in 05. Got the cayenne in the DFW and shipped to Ft. Lewis, Wa then made it worse when i slapped 22's on and drove it to the local porsche stealer 5 months later for the 20k service. everyone was like DaAAAmn !!!, we never seen 22's on a Cayenne yet. we did'nt think they could hold 22's. those kind of reactions did not taper off until last year when we moved down to Columbus, Ga. so it all depends on the YOU (owners personality). some of us will like the attention and some will Not. some can Handle the attention and others can not. I have 22's waiting for our X6 50i so picture me shrouging my shoulders like; whatever. You may have picked the Wrong color (VR)to be incognito in a new bmw that is stirring up alot of conversation. we chose DSB/SB/ wood but i do not plan on driving the X6 50i as much as we did the Cayenne though. but if your still in the BK, next trip i make up that way, i will holla at you so we could Really break some necks when we do a lunch in both X6's ! they will either or either way enjoy it, if not holla at me and i will trade you my Cayenne and see if you can be stealthy in that?

One of the reasons I went with the Tasman Green. It looks classy (to me) and a little less conspicuous than Red or White. I love black but I've had so many black cars I felt it was time for a change. Was thinking about one of the 2 Blues but settled on the green....

I actually live in queens now, but I use the car for work so I will be driving it everywhere. I had no choice on color or any of the options. If I had a choice it probably would have been black.

I know what u mean man. I've had my black on black X6 since May and the attention i get is unbelievable. Sometimes it gets a little annoying as i have had people try to take pictures of me and the car, and have been pulled over by the police 11 times since ive owned the car. When i first got the car I loved the fact that i was one of the few that had one. Soon after i realized that it has its negatives. because im the only person around my area with a black X6 everyone knows its me and can monitor my movements. (Not a good thing when u live in the ghetto). But all in all i love my car and wouldnt trade it for the world.

Actually it is the first high-end luxury crossover on the market which is the main reason it grabs attention.
Porsche, MB and Lexus will likely follow. A big advantage SUV/SAV/SAC's is they can hide hybrid technology in them. Most hybrid cars lose trunk space to accomodate the hybrid components. I see crossovers displacing traditional SUV's and minivans.
