Conrod bearings for X5M

Met a new mechanic that had his X5M spin a bearing under warranty and destroy the engine. Recommends that I do a conrod bearing replacement. What do you guys reckon? I can't find any mention of people doing it on this engine...

Normally bearing go on these engines if you have had a leaking injector for a long period of time. Fuel mixes with the oil causing poor lubrication.
